It's at that particular point I started to dislike the man and continue to this day after finding out more about him both in office and out.
Actually, I think Carter was a good man and a real Christian (there aren't many, not really), but didn't have the balls to play international hardball. Maybe he was too good and kind.

Kind of like the current POTUS, actually.

and the economic woes he was blamed for were really the result of OPEC manipulating the cost of oil more than anything else.

Don't know about that - he was not equipped to be President at the time, and since he's left office he's been more of a fool than even I could imagine.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

How has he been a fool, going around helping build houses for Habitat for Humanity? I haven't heard him say much politically.

His pro-Hamas stance is just for starters. His oversite of Venezuala's elections with Chavez..., Robert Mugabe, Castro's, Kim Jong Ill.... then the absolute moronic things that he says and that he's an well known anti-semite and bigot. Now that may be okay with you, but I find the fool simply showed his true colors after leaving office. I urge you to review his post Presidential doings - they're quite interesting.

I hadn't heard any of that. I guess I haven't been keeping track of Jimmy Carter lately.

When I do see him, he usually has a hammer in his hand.

I guess when Kennedy was elected and the Cuban Missile Crisis happened...well, I was too young to vote Kennedy, but that event got my attention. I started paying close attention to government. I first voted in the LBJ, Goldwater election.

Re: Who was President when you first became politically aware?

Ironically i was born in August 1976, when Ford was President, who was the only Republican i really ever
liked, and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before the GOP went bat **** crazy to the right, good guy, not a very good President, Carter had to really dig deep to beat him later that year..

I didn't start becoming politically active until i worked as a volunteer for Slick Willie in 1992, that was a GREAT YEAR, Billy really put an ass whupping on Bush SR, who looked lost and very weak against the young upstart..
