I understand, but he flip flopped on multiple big ticket items for fiscal conservatives.

I somewhat disagree here. While it's true that the rich help their own efforts by continuing in their hard work as far as their business practices are concerned, they do get a leg up over the common man with the government's help in many regards, i.e., economic/tax policies that are written in their favor (thanks in large part to corporate lobbyist who keep a politician or two in their back pocket), generous financial incentive packages to help them relocate their business dealings to other states, out of the country or "legally" shelter their money off-shore. Can the average Joe do any of this even on a small scale relative to their earnings without experiencing dire consequences? I think not!

I'd say the rich get a tremendous leg up from government over the common man to help make them richer.

As to the poll question, no. Ronald Reagan was not the greatest president this country has ever had. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin and Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower and even William J. Clinton rank way above him.

I'm currently reading it NO: 39 votes, YES: 6. So, can we put this to bed?

    Which negates your previous comment...

Another example of how greater government attempts at manipulation (through an ever more complicated tax code) has absolutely zero effect.
Think about what you're saying here. If the rich have the means to take advantage of the tax code, how are they being manipulated by that which helps them prosper?

One thing that many praise him for over someone like Obama is that Reagan was willing to take part of what he wanted because he knew he could never get everything he wanted.

ETA: His spending was definitely NOT fiscally conservative, that's for sure.

Yep, and if he was alive today this IMO would be another negative in the eyes of the GOP of today.

Reagan was actually quite the dove. He talked tough, but seldom put American troops in harms way. (except for Grenada and Lebanon) But in Lebanon they were sent as trying to keep the peace, not to fight. Lebanon was a big mistake by him, IMO.

BUT his policies for the most part were awful and in the long run many were very destructive. Trickle down especially has been proven to have been, and still is a disaster and a failure.

So the best? Nope, policywise not even in the top 25. But leadershipwise yeah, he's in the top 5.
Yeah, I agree with that. Many people base their opinion's on president's on personality, looks, etc. On that criteria, I'd put Reagan in the top 5. But, then again, so is Obama, going off that criteria. Policy aside, both Obama and Reagan are off the chart "cool." To bad "cool" doesn't put more money in my pocket.
