To every Bush hater, it's always Florida in 2000......
He wasn't the monster people made him out to be. It's disturbing that so many people wish for his death.
Don't forget this thread is about that other guy - Cheney - though it makes little difference. They both, and many others, were complicit in creating an unnecessary war.To every Bush hater, it's always Florida in 2000......
The thing is, the Iraq War was not the result of an intelligence goof — rather, the country’s top office systematically misled the public about Iraq’s nonexistent WMD program, as well as Saddam Hussein’s link to Al Qaeda.
On Tuesday night, former CIA Deputy Director and Bush’s intelligence briefer Michael Morell appeared on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” where he, under an amount of good cable news duress, admitted that the administration intentionally misrepresented intelligence.
The show played a clip of Cheney saying, “We know [Saddam Hussein] has been absolutely devoted to trying to acquire nuclear weapons. And we believe he has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons.”
“Was that true or not,” host Chris Matthews asked.
“We were saying–”
“Can you answer that question? Was that true?”
“No, that was not true,” he finally said.
Former Dick Cheney, de Facto President of the GWB administration, was far more than mere controversial. GWB was a neophyte regarding Politics when a partisan USSC appointed him, the most unqualifed candidate to be president of the US. W was content to be president in name only while others did the work for him. This was the worse thing he could have done with a psychopath like Cheney. Dick Cheney went to Iraq for profiteering for "his" company, Halliburton, Control of Iraqi oil contracts, and to clean up the middle east (get rid of Saddam Hussein) for Israel. The latter being the neoconservatives main goal. Cheney does not know how to admit he was wrong and is all over the place blaming President Obama who wisely voted against invading Iraq.
I do not like Dick Cheney and words fail me in attempting to explain my loathing for this man. He was on the list for a heart transplant, and I am wondering to this day how it was he jumped to the head of the line, before others who needed a heart just as badly, to conveniently get a new lease on life?!
President Obama was not a Senator when our lawmakers voted to invade Iraq. The "wise" vote against the invasion that you believe he made never happened.

Believing the Florida election was fair is no better than believing in Santa Claus.
You are correct. I keep reading/hearing he voted against the invasion of Iraq, but he has repeatedly voiced his opinion against the Bush action. Here is an excerpt from the link below:
"Barack Obama (who went on to win the election) was not a senator at the time of the voting of the Iraq War Resolution, but has repeatedly voiced his disapproval of it both before and during his senatorship, saying at an anti war rally in Chicago on October 2, 2002: 'I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.' "

What do I think of Darth Cheney?
Oh, I don't know.............
You're right considering the early, false call of Florida for Gore certainly caused several thousand nonvotes for George Bush in the panhandle.
And considering that one candidate's brother had significant control over any "irregularities."
Given that he was the official elected by voters in Florida for that purpose among others what was he supposed to do?
Gee. Um, recuse himself from the task due to a conflict of interest?
Nah, "conflicts of interest" are meaningless syllables to Bushes.
Are they allowed to do that in Florida?
And I'm assuming the Lt. Gov. would be the one to take over then so would they have any less reason to be possibly biased.
That said, I'm not sure if governors can selectively recuse themselves in matters like that. An election is not like a court case.
