Just keep it real. Military interventions do not translate into war crimes. And war is hell. People die in wars. Just leave out the whacko nutjob web sites. And it would be wise to avoid links to wikipedia as well. Considering that the material in Wiki can be edited by the readers, it's more of a blog then a factual news site.

P.S. America is the greatest.
Every time someone gives you details of American atrocities, you dismiss it as propaganda. Your definition of propaganda seems to be anything which casts doubt on American greatness. I put it to you that American greatness is a cast-iron fact for you and you are unwilling to examine seriously any evidence to the contrary.

I think it's an article of faith for nationalists and imperialists.

sure, we are the greatest

and my dad can beat up your dad too.

The two topics are essentially in the same vein of maturity

It is a rather silly speech designed to sound good while having exactly zero substance. And he is wrong both in saying that America is not the greatest country in the world, and his over the top rose tinted glasses while looking back.

While I agree with your comment on America's 'culture of cynicism,' as you put it, I fail to see where you can find his speech 'silly' or devoid of 'substance'. The statistics he cites are, unless I've missed something, factually accurate and in nearly every one of those metrics the U.S. is a former leader. Maybe his glasses are rose tinted, but I don't think we'll find many people who'd agree that our money is better spent in financial aid to unappreciative pseudo-allies like Pakistan than on NASA (for just one example). The motivations that drove American policy have changed dramatically somewhere along the line, clearly, and most of the things that made us the greatest country in the world, we just don't have anymore.

That said, I also agree with you on that I would not choose to live anywhere but here.

No. Patriotism for the sake of itself is corny and moronic. If you're not willing to change things, wave your flag all you want. The U.S. is further behind in several key areas than any industrialized nation should be in this day and age.

Insistence that your nation is 'The Greatest' suggests a reluctance to improve. I think we've noticed that in recent decades.

Very true, but when such misconduct starts in 1901 with the massacre of Filipino civilians -

This is organised butchery and war crimes, not a case of 'a few bad apples'.

So don't tell me about being 'the greatest'. Save your jingoism for the successfully indoctrinated.

Lol you sound pretty indoctrinated yourself.

While it is spiralaling down hill, it is still better then every other countries.

If having a handful of billionaires having more wealth than millions of ordinary Americans, then yes, it's a great country for the very wealthy. Remember, dubya said the haves and have mores were his base?

Well, we COULD devolve into some left wing Socialist hell hole, but that would take Millions of Idiots voting in enough Politicians to implement those kind of regressive policies.

Gotta admit, Obama being elected is not a good sign for freedom loving non-indoctrinated voters.

But I think there are enough Americans who are intelligent enough not to repeat Socialist experiments like France, Argentina, Venezuela and Greece to name a few.

You left out two world wars. So, if all you have to show are two incidents of war time rage in country that is 239 years old and has fought literally all over the world for much of our existence, then compared to every other country in human history, we're angels of mercy.

You should think about that before you jump to a rather uninformed conclusion.

America is a great country, and overall with it being the strongest western nation and the country with the biggest economy and most advanced military I'd say it's the "greatest" country in the world.

That does not mean that America is the best at everything, when I was in Canada there were things I thought they did better, and in various other nations (particularly Korea and Japan) primary education is better. America is great, overall I think it's the greatest if being "great" equates with wealth and military might, but it's not the best at all things or necessarily "superior" to others.

He's been hating this Country for some time now. Goes out of his way to interject on more than one public forum anytime this issue comes up

Barack Obama has destroyed this country. We are the laughing stock of the world in spite of Obama's boast that he has "improved" our standing in the world. The man lies. His handling of LIbya (Benghazi), Yemen, Syria, Israel, Iran, Russia and Cuba have all been colossal disasters. Obamacare does almost NOTHING promised. The only parts that do what promised are pre-existing conditions and SOME of the uninsureds that were promised but nowhere NEAR what he promised - about 6-8 million as compared to the 30-47 million promised and then you have to subtract those who LOST their plans which MAYBE nets 5 million at a ridiculous cost of $2.3 trillion. He KNOWINGLY lied that you can keep your plan and your doctor and that your premiums would go down by $2500 a year. He got it rammed through by parliamentary trickery. He promised to be transparent about it but it was completely done behind closed doors and apparently even the drafters didn't read it. He had promised that he would not sign any bill until it had been posted for 5 days for everybody to read. Labor Participation Rate is worst in decades. Median household income is down 10% since he took over. The Fed is propping up the economy and creating a grossly over-inflated stock market that - when it crashes - and it surely will - will be worse than the dot come crash and the Real Estate bubble burst combined. I could go on and on and on but you get the picture. The man is an incompetent boob!

Believe me, I could dig up a lot more than two incidents if I could be bothered - but suffice to say they hanged people at Nuremberg for similar incidents of 'war time rage'. You should think about that before you attempt to justify war crimes.

You are correct - to a point. I will always challenge any person of any nation who expounds upon the nonsensical concept that his nation is preeminent in all things. It is ignorant and ill-mannered.

Nowhere near the same.
