Your nation? You are a leftist, America was never yours to begin with. And we will not compromise with ideas and actions harm and destroy this nation.

Yes really--but you already knew that deficits didn't matter according to the 5-time draft-dodging chicken**** chickenhawk Cheney. Which is why those 4,500 lives didn't matter to him--he certainly lowered the greatness of my great Nation don't you think?

Why are you so into "sides"?
That was a direct statement from you--not a generalization as you are now trying to backtrack it.
Certainly not the foundation of a great Nation where all of our people have come together as ONE GREAT NATION .

So exactly what does a leftist mean in your mind?

    Why so quick with accusations?

Are you saying that leftists have never been a part of MY GREAT NATION?

Compromise is what the Constitution was all about--are you aware of that?

Who are you to say that "we" will not compromise?

The ideas and actions from the last administration will forever be an immense stain on this Nation.

The harm and destruction done to our soldiers and their families by Cheney and company will live with them the rest of their lives.

And now the new GOP Senate wants another war--their words .

"Greatness" is in the eye of the beholder.
That being said, in my opinion what makes a country and its institutions "great" (not really my favourite terminology) is - among other things - that it continues to be strong and vibrant even when its citizens elect leaders that are incompetent, stupid, corrupt, ...

Great video...I mostly agree with it.

For me, America stopped being a great country (let alone the greatest in the world) the minute I realized that Gitmo was not going away anytime soon and that America had grown so cowardly that they were okay with that as a whole.

Plus the creation of Homeland Security and the Patriot Act and on and on...after these things I realized that America is made up of too many cowards to be a great nation. Too many people who are willing to throw honor and decency out the window every time a terrorist goes 'boo'.

Since about 6 months after 9/11, America is a disappointment to me.

I'll say up front that I didn't view the link - I don't listen to anything celebrities say about politics or world affairs - they are no more relevant to me than "man-on-the-street" interviews.

Secondly, I didn't respond to your poll because I didn't have an option that suited my view. Depends on your definition of "great".

For me, America is a great country - has been, and likely always will be, at least for as long as I'll be alive. But I'm Canadian and I believe Canada is also a great country with remarkable people, stunning and varied landscape, seemingly boundless resources, and a tremendous future. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. That makes Canada the greatest to me.
A Canadian conservative is one who believes in limited government and that the government should stay out of our wallets and out of our bedrooms.

Greatest country? It's third world. The Baltimore riots says it all.

What does 'greatest' mean? America is a great country. It's just not the only one, that's all.

I can see where the term may have applied to ancient city states, notable for the singular grandeur and status of their historical period. Though I'm hard-pressed to see how any nation in modern times might lay claim to the title. What are our criteria?
