Not so. You should know that the soul is eternal.

Yes it is, as I happen to believe it. So is that the underlying point you're trying to make? What does the soul have to do with either poverty or wealth?

The whole "Bush is a dunce" thing was always wrong. He's not a polished speaker, so the Left takes that a stupid. Of course Hillary's shrill style, is like music to their ears.

I suspect Bush has a higher IQ than Hildabeast. Now Bill Clinton-he's a very bright guy. One of the smartest presidents ever along with Nixon, Bush I, Carter. What does that tell you in terms of "high intelligence" and success in the oval office?

He's not a moron although even I personally sometimes would want to call him one. However, I seldom agree with many of the things he has done/advocated for.

That guy signed the PATRIOT act, and the way that act is abused is almost treasonous. That's my biggest "WTF" with Bush.

the worst abuse of the constitution in the last 100 years? THe FDR expansion of the commerce clause which became the foundation for so many other odious acts of government. Including some of the patriot act

The soul has nothing to do with poverty or wealth and that is the point. Because it does not have anything to do with such things, it is better to be in real knowledge, meaning knowledge of the nature of the soul and the mundane energy of God, than to be in ignorance of such things a be wealthy.

True, but don't cover for bush by trying to turn this into a shinier of the two turds contest in regards to the expansion of federal power.

Ok. That's a pretty deep philosophical point that would be near impossible to glean from your poll questions.

If you had to choose between being ignorant and wealthy or being poor but understanding the truth, which would you choose?

The "poll" makes no sense. There is no such black and white when it comes to mankind, if the King James quote is of any value, it should suggest a deeper approach to the human condition.

Wise and poor is not poor. Stupid and rich is not rich. Please have a look at philosophy 101.

Eh, I have some questions, some caveats, a few quid-pro-quos.... :)

How rich? How poor?

How much knowledge? How badly ignorant?

A million dollars wouldn't be worth being a drooling window-licker who has to be reminded to wipe afterwards.

"Understanding the truth" in what sense? What truth? How much knowledge? Would I be some super-Einstein/Edison hybrid capable of conceptualizing the universe in my own head, someone who'd look down on Steven Hawking as a retard? IF so I wouldn't stay poor long. :D

Although it is rather esoteric, such a question should have an obvious answer to someone like you. Please don't take that as an insult. Just saying.

The Absolute Truth Goshin.

I could never be ignorant in a general sense.

That is a personal trait. And a choice.

Wealth is external. I would take wealth and continue to not be ignorant...in fact...it would expand my horizons exponentially.

No ignorance is not bliss, rather it is at the root of suffering. Although a person with wealth may not have the precise types of financial problems that people without wealth experience, nonetheless they experience anxiety and suffering. Here's an example of a well know case.
You do know that poor people abuse drugs too?And had Rush been poor he most likely would be in prison for abusing prescription drugs.

Exactly. Ignorant about what? What truth? How rich?
Some of the ignorant people are pretty smart about lots of stuff, and some of the most intelligent people can act pretty ignorant. Both can be rich in their own right.

What makes you say that you cannot be ignorant in the general sense?

I only know one of those, friend. :)

And the ignorance of it is much on display at DP...

Well I'm not sure I know what you are talking about, but there is surely a lot of ignorance on display, not only here but elsewhere. That goes for me as well.

The point is that wealth cannot make one happy.

If I "knew the truth" (whatever that means), presumably I'd know what I needed to do to change my status of being poor. So that option doesn't seem too bad.

If I was ignorant but wealthy, the question should be asked whether this implies infinite wealth, i.e. no risk of squandering it and ending up poor. Moderately wealthy and supremely impulsive/ignorant is a recipe for ending up poor in short order. And I would ask how ignorant. An ignorant wealthy person could spend some of the wealth to gain education and information that would decrease the ignorance.

The point is that wealth cannot make one happy.

But being smart can make a poor person wealthy, and the process of becoming wealthier tends to result in satisfaction, at least with oneself.

The truth will make you free. Free from the need to have wealth.

Yep, the depth of our ignorance is as deep as the ocean. These are just the beginning, mundane effects of the practice of pranayama. Previously yogis who had mastered this type of yoga could raise the temperature of the body so high that it would burn completely, and the self, the atma, would travel to its desired destination.

Knowledge indeed reigns supreme.

Pff. Classic example of the desires of some that everyone be equally poor. Either that or this is merely what financially insecure and/or impulsive people say to themselves to rationalize their financial situation or try to find happiness in spite of it.

"The truth" is that my personal conscious decision to save and invest some of my income and build wealth makes me happy. "The truth" is that I personally would not be happy as a monk.

What makes you say that you cannot be ignorant in the general sense?

Because that is a personal trait (as well as a personal 'state.') and I am not, nor do I desire to be. I am an avid reader and always looking for new things, new places, new experiences, new information. I am certainly not ignorant in the general sense, altho of course in areas.
