Most of the schools I went to were very conservative. Very.

Depends how well the system is performing from one year to the next. lulz For every exemplary table placing, both sides will claim credit, while blaming the other for every abysmal failure. Were the school system dominated by one side, incumbent parties could never get beyond a single term. Make no mistake, schools are every inch the political cudgels as are hospitals, police forces, economies and armies.

Where'd it come from? Knowledge of history, and seeing how often dogmatism of all sorts has killed people and constrained humanity from growing.

I think you just hate people who don't pat your head and pretend your superstition is just as valid as reality-based fact.
You think people having immoral sexual or criminal exploits qualifies as a constraint on the growth of humanity? Is that what intellectuals ponder all day?

Oh, like the dozens of paedophiles in the priesthood and the meth-smoking closet cases running megachurches?

Religion hasn't done much for your own. If anything, it tends towards protecting its criminals, because the appearance of godliness is apparently more important than the actuality.

Whether you apologize for your errors or not is irrelevant. You still have no credible evidence for your beliefs, thus we're all free to laugh at them.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

Not a sample of test scores, but here is the conservative lobbyists' group ALEC's rankings of education systems in America by state. Defining Blue and Red states according to the 2012 US Presidential elections, we have:
-Of their top 15 states, 14 are Blue.
-Of their bottom 11 states, 10 are Red.
This is ALEC, mind you, a conservative thinktank.

Here are the six-year college graduation rates in 2009. Defining Blue and Red states according to the 2008 US Presidential elections (since this is 2009 data; this does affect NC), we have:
-Of the top 18 states, all of them are Blue. (Change NC to a Red state, and "only" 17 of the top 18 are Blue.)
-Of the bottom 18 states, 15 of them were Red.
-California was 7th best. Texas was 34th.

Of course, let's be honest--trying to rank schools with data is about as easy as ranking colors.

I guess my question is what exactly is the forced or coerced liberal education that people seem to assume is in the system?
Science. Reality. Critical thinking. Creativity. Art.

As opposed to "education" that just crams students through high-stakes testing, which so many libertarians and conservatives love.

My personal faith has nothing i to do with any of that nor am I a member of any church. In fact it does give religion a bad name.

I didn't say it did. However, in light of those types of facts, it is intentionally ignorant to claim that the religious are somehow exempt from the most despicable crimes of humanity. Indeed, they use their religion to hide from prosecution. Even more despicably, people like you allow them to, by continuing to claim nonsense such as the religious having higher morals.

What is it they say about good men doing nothing? And you justify ignoring these men of god who rape children and preach violence towards gays even as they hire male prostitutes by saying god will deal with them in the afterlife? Gee, how comforting to their living victims.

It seems to me the religious have strayed much more than have the non-religious. At least we still call a spade a spade. And that is what is wrong with dogmatic and irrational ways of thinking: it gives justification to doing nothing about things like paedophiles in your own ranks. Simply claim No True Scotsman and it's no longer your problem.

God will sort them out indeed. If you're right about such a god, hopefully he will sort out the wilfully blind who would rather protect their sense of superiority than other human beings as well. Jesus wept, as they say.
