Personally, I think Rand Paul is bored with being a Senator in Washington and he'll likely last a long time in the Republican primaries. He'll have the grassroots money that his father tapped into and he'll want to give it a good shot and at least be an agent for discussing serious issues. I'm looking forward to some of the debates with Paul and Jeb Bush having intellectual discussions while the others spout sound bite nonsense.

He did, and I considered it something of a mistake(and still do to an extent) that did not sink his campaign as the recession kinda made more than enough people hostile towards republicans in general. We are not currently in a recession, which makes the situation kinda different.

Yes and No, politicians still make a hallmark of running on the principle of whom the voter should run away from. Obama did it to Republicans post Bush 43, Republicans did it to Democrats to obtain the 112th and 113th Congressional House and control all of the 114th Congress. There is no real reason to assume that the 2016 elections will not include the general strategy of branding someone by the (D) or (R) behind their name based on actions more associated with the party over the person. Just reality no matter what the economic condition is.

I don't think so. Paul has a hard ceiling, but he also has a hard floor.
Worth noting, Democrats: President Trump will have a Pen and a Phone. #Precedent.

Thank the lord. Obama is important because his policies have been damaging to the country and policies which are not popular with the donor class are generally followed by a change in party. So Obama is important to keep in mind. Hillary has already been accused of being Obama's third term. I think she's sunk.
