Totally bogus and your personal bias IMO.

Red flags? Seriously? I dont even use pot nor plan to. But used in moderation it's better for you than a lot of other things the AMA, etc 'frown on', like sugar, transfats, cigs, hard liquor, etc.

Why the blind spot for pot? I think it's just that most people were beaten over the head with 'pot is bad!' when they were in school and cant move beyond that, even with all the facts and evidence and medical support we know today.

I agree with all of that except the age 21 part.

If the government can force an 18 year old to die for his/her country in the military, then they should let them legally smoke marijuana or drink alcohol as well.

Additionally, 18 years old is the widely accepted age of adulthood...that should include being able to legally drink alcohol and smoke pot in any state in America.

Maybe not this yr, but in the next 5 yrs? All would vote yes. Most intelligent people dont keep their heads in the sand no matter how good a job their grammar school did indoctrinating them differently.
So it is an ignorant person that listens to the advice of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Society of Addiction Medicine who oppose the legalization of marijuana?

Hmm. That is a dilemma. On one hand, even if a state legalizes marijuana, it can still be punished as a crime by the federal government, while on the other hand, it could just be another instance of the federal government taking the power to make their decisions on a topic away from the states (not always a bad thing, but still not something I approve of very often). Perhaps an amendment giving state law regarding recreational drugs supremacy over federal laws about the same substance?

Yes, absolutely. Scrutinize just as alcohol... age limit, driving and operating under the influence etc, but yes.

If there is such a mountain of scientific evidence that shows pot to be harmless why is the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Society of Addiction Medicine against legalization?

    A) she did not say it was 'harmless' - at least not in the link you quoted.

    B) I agree that regularly ingesting fatty, cholesterol-filled, artificially sweetened foods on a regular basis is far more harmful long term then smoking pot on a moderate basis.

    C) And if alcohol is legal - which an be VERY harmful - then so should pot (which IMO, is at worst, no more harmful then alcohol at it's worst).

    D) btw, I am not a fan of pot personally...makes me paranoid.
