Does the Thought of Animals Suffering Bother You?

It does me...a lot, but then I recognize that my views on animals are not the same as everyone else's. Just curious if my views are somewhat "extreme" when it comes to animal welfare.

    Working on poll.

Seems pretty normal to me. If you did not feel anything like a sociopath... then you got problems.

Animals? No. Mammals? Yes if the suffering is due to negligence/abuse

Yes, it bothers me a lot. I try to avoid stories of abuse, cruelty and neglect, though I'm not always successful at that. I read a horrible story about the dolphins people swim with in the Caribbean, which I will not share.

Doesn't matter what kind of animal either. Mammals, reptiles, fish or birds, if they are suffering/suffered, it bothers me.

I have no personal connection to these men. Ricky and Taliesin died and Micah was severely injured because they chose not to sit by silently, instead, they chose to confront hate. My condolences to their families for their tremendous loss and my best wishes to Micah for a full recovery and long, fruitful life.

Mostly, of course, I am protective of my cat.

So, **** birds, reptiles, fish, amphibians, and invertebrates?
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

Yes, but I am a very good shot and my goal is to kill them quickly and with the least amount of suffering. Some may think it's cruel, but it is a whole lot nicer than eating them alive.

It bothers me immensely. Of course I have to weigh that against the hypocrisy of me not being a vegetarian, knowing how the animals are treated; that all need to be reformed. But yeah, such as poaching, whaling and other such barbarism should be met with instant death. Penalties for the abuse of domestic pets should be similarly harsh. The sickass shitbags who torture animals for fun should likewise be tortured beyond their limits. I think at that point, you've pretty much relinquished any rights you might otherwise have taken for granted. Like that guy who tied his dog to a tree and set it on fire. Had it been my call, he would have met with a horrific fate.

Watch any episode of Big Cat Diary on APL, and you will see large cats killing prey using their teeth and claws.

One can reasonably observe that man has dominion over animals, which would entail killing them when necessary for self defense and consumption.

Morons who do not understand the circle of life, and the predator / prey relationship will cry about any animal death, which is ignorant.

Animals have no rights, but they should be treated with reasonable civility unless they are required for food or need to be killed when attacking humans.

Animals should not be killed for sport or to be mean, but necessary culling is sometimes required to reduce overpopulation.

Personally, I don't believe in killing for sport, but I have no issues with killing humanely for food.

Having said all of this, know that my dog is a valued family member, and I will utilize deadly force to protect my dog, just like the human members of my nuclear family.

Yes...just a second...'yes, and can I have fries with my Big Mac?'...sorry about that, where was I?

    Oh yeah, it bothers me.
