Regulations are not the primary reason. Cheap labor is the main factor, although regulations, such as environmental ones do factor in as well. That said, environmental regulations are a good thing.

Dude, I have a solution. We need to stop paying our laborers decent wages, the companies will be more motivated.

Actually all things equal, it is unpatriotic to buy such products. The problem is that it is so common now that it would be difficult to avoid it. Therefore, like I said, perhaps it is time for some high tariffs to be imposed on imported goods.
I take from your answer you do buy foreign made goods. And as you point out you are unpatriotic.

Further I suggest when you impose tariffs, they also will impose tariffs on us shipping goods to them. You accomplish nothing. Also as you suggest it is difficult to avoid buying foreign made goods and that is because we are in and part of a world economy. Shut the doors and be an isolationist will destroy our economy.

Not with the high cost of US labor when compared to Asia.

That is true from the point of view of wealthy investors. From the point of view of U.S. workers it was a very bad idea.
