It depends on what his plans are for the doll.

I don't have a son but I know for a fact my husband would never go for it. I'd try to think of some kind of compromise we could all agree on.

I had a Princess Leia action figure. I still like women.

My family moto is HTFU. I don't know if our son playing with barbie dolls would go along with that.

Yes, but I would try to talk him out of it. But in the end, kids will be what they are going to be, no matter what you do. I'm sure most men would buy their little girl a GI Joe. But would not want her to join the Army. If you know what I mean.

I never really thought about it, and having had two sons, it never was a reality in my life. i doubt it's very common at all, tbh.

I wouldnt, but Im not a parent. If I were, I would raise a boy to act like a man.

What if he wanted it because he liked pretty white girls?

Unless he wanted it for his GI Joe? No, no way, lol.

LOL!

I'll tell you a true story. I have a nine year old son. I was with him at the mall a little while ago. This white blonde in a red mini dress with red shoes gets on the elevator with us. My son immediately goes "Nice eyelashes you got there." The lady smiled and said "You are so sweet." My son then went, "So what is your name?" The lady turned red as her dress while smiling! I then told my son, "OK son, that's enough." My son then goes, "Why are you stopping me from talking to her? I want to go with her!" I am not kidding!!!

Are you afraid he would shove it up his butt?

When my son was about two, he wanted baby dolls. I really disliked that the ones we could find were "little mommy" brand. He also had a play kitchen and a play shopping cart.

Despite the expectations of those who told my wife it was horrible we let him play with these.....his penis did not, in fact, fall off.

I don't think the concern people have is his penis falling off. I think they are worried about him acquiring extra penises.

It actually pained me a bit to stop him. It was obvious he could not help that. I just didn't want to embarrass the lady.

As would I. Kids should be allowed to play with whatever toy they want to play with.

I can't imagine a childhood without Lightsabers, ATAT's, The DeathStar, Slave 1, Bobba Fett, XWings, Han, Chewie, Luke, Ben Kenobi and Co.

I do remember drawing hair on my sisters Barbies. Still like that today.
