Do the majority of U.S. Jews support Netanyahu? [W:144]

I don't think that Netanyahu has the support of the majority of Jews in the U.S., especially among the younger generation. They are fed up with the lies and warmongering and want a new, fresh approach to solving the problems of the Middle East.

American Jews, speak out against Netanyahu’s policies
The Israeli prime minister and the majority of U.S. Jews fundamentally disagree on key issues. The time has come for American Jewish institutions to address this tension.

Basically the supporters of Netanyahu in America are Conservative Orthodox Jews and Dispensationalist Evangelical Christians. Most American Jews are not overly religious. Hell a lot of them are not religious at all. They don't have the cloud of fundamentalist religious belief impacting their judgement on Israel. When conservative evangelicals wonder why American Jews are typically fairly liberal and Democrat, its simple, they don't think like them. Their world view is vastly different.

Its a little off topic but I recall getting into a discussion with this Jewish rabbi at an event at a university in which the views of various religions were being discussed. It almost sounded as if the guy didn't believe what was put forward by Moses and the prophets, and I wonder if he actually believed in God at all.

Not trying to be offensive or derogatory, I just found his views rather interesting.

Of course they don't. But I am sure that quite a few do. And even more know that he is right about Obama and Iran.

The freak that has been telling us for twenty five years that Iran is a year or two away from having nuclear weapons? Yeah.

It does not appear that we can know that for sure. There are plenty of articles out there suggesting anger over his speech to Congress here and some of his last minute antics to win the election back in Israel. But, we still seem to have enough evidence that both US Jews and US Citizens overall still support Israel. It brings into question how much of the contempt for Netanyahu really translates to ideological disassociation from Israel no matter whom is in charge.

Re: Do the majority of U.S. Jews support Netanyahu?

Virtually all Jews fled to the USA prior to the Immigration Act of 1924, which among other goals was to block Jews coming to the USA. As murder and increasing slaughter of Jews became worldwide, Jews were trying to flee to Israel, despite Britain trying to block the number of Jews coming to Israel.
By 1938, Jews were desperate to get out of Europe and Britain proposed a small Jewish zone, smaller than present day Israel, and for all the rest being exclusively for Arabs. The Jewish Council agreed, but Palestinian Muslims riots, demanding that Jews do not have 1 inch of land and instead that Jews be evicted. Britain withdrew it's proposal.

This left nowhere for European Jews to go, resulting in the murder of 1/3rd of all Jews in the World, 6 million, in the holocaust. However, the murder and oppression against Jews was worldwide, other than Britain attempted to maintain law and order in what is now Israel, so those few who could make it there were relatively safe.

Few American Jews have any ancestry or direct linkage to the holocaust and have been safely within the USA so long they have no memory of the reason their ancestor's fled to the USA, just like many others of different ethnicity who came to the USA to escape do not.

Another hate on Israel and Israel's PM message by the OPer.

American Jews are not Israelis. The younger generation of Jews have no world Jewish experience. The OP is off-base and based in bigotry and eugenics. What American Jews think of Israel is as relevant as what Italian Americans think about politics in Italy.

Israel is a lifeboat that millions of Jews fled to, with the alternative being death or horrific oppression. American Jews are not and never have had that need and are not in that crowded lifeboat under perpetual threat of genocide and constant murderous attack.
