    Arizona is one state.

Of course Arizona is one State, I never said otherwise.

Arizona does show that it is possible to get rid of DST. It isnt impossible.

It doesn't give more time, but more daylight during "normal" hours. If we were not on DST, then the sun would be going down around 7 instead of 8 PM and also rising around 4 AM instead of 5 AM. But were we to stay on it the sun might not set till about 6 in the evening but wouldn't rise till later in the mornings in the winter. Nowadays maybe we don't need it as much as when we were more reliant on daylight for many jobs, but DST is about maximizing useful daylight, not gaining more time.

I totally agree and I despise DST. Leave it the way it was before we started mucking with it.

As has been said, not "more time" in a day, but more daylight time after work. Everything I like to do in summer - biking, hiking, fishing, gardening, etc. - is outside, and with DST, I have from about 6 till 9:30 as we speak to do any of those. I prefer that to having to be off the bike by 8:30. It's even more important earlier and later in the year, when DST makes an after work ride possible.

And I also don't mind the few months when we have 'regular' time in the Winter. Not much happening outside after 6pm, and it's nice to work out in the morning or drive to work in the daylight. I wouldn't change it at all. The only problem we have is the dogs get on a feeding/walk schedule and they don't recognize DST...

Either keep it all year or abolish it. Switching back and forth is ridiculous.

Re: Should Daylight Savings Time Be Abolished?

I am SOOOOOOOO tired of adapting to a new time twice a year. I was around before this crap and had NO PROBLEM with the old standard time.
If I stop responding it doesn't mean I've conceded the point or agree with you. It only means I've made my point and I don't mind you having the last word. Please wait a few minutes before "quoting" me. I often correct errors for a minute or two after I post before the final product is ready.
