Palcohol - Good idea or bad?

Palcohol (as I just recently found out) is a powdered version of alcohol, that now has full FDA approval and will soon be showing up on shelves across America. It's a powdered version of vodka or rum or other spirits and even mixed drinks and could include sweeteners or other additives.

Palcohol, or powdered alcohol, was approved this week by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, part of the U.S. Treasury Department. But the powder packets that can turn water into a mixed drink have already been banned by several states amid fears that Palcohol can be easily abused.
"As a parent, it's one thing to patrol for cases of beer or bottles of booze," said ABC News chief health and medical editor Dr. Richard Besser, who is also a pediatrician. "But having to look for little packets, I worry that it could lead to more underage drinking, making it easier."
He said he wasn't happy with the federal approval and explained there isn't much the U.S. Food and Drug Administration can do it about it right away. The FDA can only take products like this off shelves if they find a problem, he said, which is what happened with alcoholic energy drinks called Four Loko.
Some states are set to be against sale of this product but the question is:

Once Palcohol is in the stores, will you buy it and try it? Is this a good idea or bad idea in general? Take the poll.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Meh- I'm pretty much neutral on it. I doubt it will make underage drinking any worse than it is. If kids really want to get their hand on alcohol, they'll do it one way or the other.

Am I interested in trying it? Not at all. I have my preferences in the stuff already on the market, and I often just buy pre-made drinks (margaritas, white Russians, coladas, etc.)

    "Other."

Agreed with lizzie. I do not have much opinion on this one, I say we let market forces work this out. It should not be up to me what others consume.

Palcohol would be great for back packing/camping.

Though, I will try it out of curiosity, it sounds as though it might be practical as well. Let's see what it tastes like. I cannot really believe it will be good as cocktails, but it could be as gin or vodka.

That was what I was thinking. Why carry bottles, if you can save weight?

I have no opinion on whether or not it's a good idea. I guess some people will like it and others won't, as with any other consumer product.

    I don't drink so I won't try it.

You could use it while scaling a cliff.

You could mix it with your urine as a survival drink.
