Taboos about the treatment of common manufactured objects are silly and seem primitive. Symbols are symbols, not the thing that is symbolized.

Is this photo considered offensive to you?

Clearly, it violates US Flag Code, but does it bother you that it does?

(if this has already been mentioned somewhere else on the board, you can merge the topics, but I couldn't find it)
I'm wondering why a soldier would be violating the flag code? Or, is it somebody dressed as a soldier, unaware of the code or indifferent to it. At any rate, the photo doesn't offend me.

I would say that using an actual us flag and not like a us flag blanket is a bit disrespectful but it certainly their right to do it.

I'd say it's rather symbolic....our military protecting the most innocent among us.

I am not bothered by it, but I would not do it as I don't consider using the flag as a prop the right thing to do.

actually, it's code, not law i believe.
