No, and I blame liberals

If they did, that is great.

It really doesn't matter to me, I haven't been to a circus in probably 35 years.

Yes, PETA is scum.

And yes, it is good if they stopped using elephants. They are among the most intelligent animals on the planet and they should not be forced to perform for our entertainment. Even when I was a kid going to the circus something about the whole thing just didn't sit right with me.

I disagree. I think the elephants are treated well. I agree they are intelligent.

The whole circus should be shut down as it is a disgrace... seriously.

Absolutely, PETA sucks, they're terrorists and support animal terrorist activity. Given a choice between saving a bacteria and a PETA asshat, the bacteria gets the help.

Don't know enough about it so voted "other."

About time. Elephants do not belong in a circus, it's abuse.

There are instances of elephants finally losing it and killing the "handler" and others. Elephants are NOT an animal suited for being isolated (they are herding animals) or trained to the level of freakish unnatural behavior in circus acts. This, combined with the necessity for brutality to break an elephant starting at youth is fully unacceptable.

It is not rare for a circus elephants and elephants used as working live stock to basically crack up and go on the rampage both to destroy humans as their tormentors and escape.

WARNING: THIS IS LIVE FOOTAGE GRAPHIC. I posted the link only for this reason. It shows a circus elephant attacking people and the elephant being gunned down while trying to flee.

Very sickening and tragic. Maybe I should feel some compassion for the people attacked, but my sympathies are singularly for the elephant.

Asian Elephants in captivity live for less than half of what wild elephants do, and they often show signs of psychological distress. They shouldn't be kept in captivity at all, zoo animal populations are unsustainable, and their quality of life is less than that of elephants used for logging in their native range.

He was not talking about just the US. He was talking about in general.

Deservedly so. I am not a crazy PETA member, but people need to realize...

You can tell a lot about a society by how it treats its animals.

I actually adopted a bull shark. Wish I could afford the trip to go see her. but it is out of the question for now.

So you are an absentee foster parent? You bullshark will be getting tatted up and have gauges in its gill slits if you are not careful :2razz:

Animal protection runs the spectrum. Conservationists and Granola eating hippies should be able to agree on at least a few things.
