Obama only got into Columbia and Harvard due to his color. The smartest guy in my class at Yale didn't get passed freshman year. He got caught up on drugs. at age 14 he scored a perfect 1600 on his SAT. He also had the highest score in the country in a well known competitive math exam that was open to graduate students in PhD programs. He had the highest GPA in the history of a well known extremely prestigious prep school that was founded before the civil war. yet he flunked out of Yale. The assistant Dean of Admissions told me that this man was the most qualified student he had seen apply to Yale in the 6 years he had been the AD.

Cheney has had a very successful career and that counts far more than what he did as a 19 year old

Cheney has had a career, sure. At age 53, he was CEO of Haliburton. At 53, Obama is President of the USA.

uh if he's a lousy president-plenty of things. again, using your criteria you'd have to claim Bush is much smarter than Kerry, Romney, and others who lost presidential elections. Obama isn't stupid but he's hardly in the same league as saw GHWB, Clinton, Nixon, or Romney

Which criteria, academic achievements? The career success criterion is yours, not mine.
Obama's been a disappointment, no doubt about it, but by any yardstick available to us he's got to be called more intelligent than Cheney.

Let's see, on the one hand, Master of Arts, University of Wyoming. On the other, Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, Harvard Law School.
With no names attached, which scholar would you guess was the more intelligent.
What's the closest thing to Affirmative Action available to a white boy from Wyoming? How about a local oil man sponsoring him with a full scholarship to Yale? He blew it in his sophomore year, though.

The reason Obama is smarter than Cheney is that Obama is smart enough not to start wars. Cheney on the other hand, never saw a war that he did not like.
