That's one thing that always strikes me about being an American. We know so little about class compared to say, a European who, while not liking class any better, certainly at least acknowledges its existence. Americans have an extreme disdain for notions and realities of class even though class is a much bigger deal in America than Europe ironically.
Wealth in America is far more uneven, even among whites, than it is in Europe. Europeans have much greater wealth equality and because of this truth Europeans are much better at spotting a true rich person than your average American is.
