Very Liberal
One thing I've noticed is I tend to see a lot of people from one political party or another that have viewpoints that are completely opposite than the city or state they live in. A hardcore conservative from California. A hardcore liberal from Alabama etc.

I'm curious what % of posters here are from areas that have the same political viewpoint they do compared to different political viewpoints.

Well in my hometown (very rural) is definitely opposite but where I am now (Montreal) more people share my lean.

Very conservative area in my immediate locality. I'm more socially liberal, and fiscally conservative than the majority here.

I live in Connecticut.

For the most part, I'd say I'm pretty much isolated from those who think as I do.

I live on the Kansas side of the KC metro. While the city of Kansas City is fairly liberal and the inner ring burbs where I live are fairly moderate, the state of Kansas is deeply red.

Based on electoral results I am in the mainstream.

My party has been in power since 2000 and just gained seats in the last election as we chose the first woman to be elected to the job of premier. However the mainstream here would be left of me

Iowa is reasonably evenly split between Reps and Dems, so I feel ok in that regard. Even most Reps and Dems here, in my observations, are more open-minded and willing to vote un-stereotypically than where I used to live (California), which was/is a cluster-eff of hyper-partisanship.

Everybody in the area shares my views. Why wouldn't they? It's either that or risk a load of sludge delivered to their front yards, so it's really a no-brainer.

I live near Portland, Oregon which is very liberal. Our Congress person has always been a liberal. Other parts of Oregon are conservative. We've had Republican Governors, but they have been fairly liberal.

I live/work in a conservative area while being very Liberal. It's interesting that so far most people on this site tend to come from areas that are opposite of their political lean

Tom McCall should've been president

In my area, not a chance, if I lived in Spokane or in Grays Harbor County or Astoria oregon my beliefs would be consistent.

I'm the old style union gun toting type of progressive...

Although he was a Republican, all the Democrats love him today. He loved Oregon, I seriously doubt he would like to be in DC.

Hard for me to gauge, most people have the meal deal politics , they'll take the pro choice milkshake with the Anti war cheeseburger and gay rights fries.

I'm more ala carte on my political views. I support gun rights, support same sex marriage, generally pro choice, pro union and pro labor. on the other hand I can't stand the environmental stuff and the military haters. I also can't stand the superiority that many liberals (especially in the seattle metro area) feel over rural folks.

Maybe that's it. DP fills some people's need that they cannot get closer to home.

I live in a solidly democratic state, but live in a major metropolitan area that's fairly moderate in terms of its balance. San Diego currently has a republican mayor, a very strong military influence and history, and My congressman is Darrell Issa. So, it's not entirely monolithic.

I watch as the opposites dismantle the city and state around me.

Which is unfortunate because I'm in the same boat. However, in Southern California, at least outside of San Diego and Los Angeles, it's pretty conservative. It's just the liberal asshats in Sacramento that screw it up for all of us.

I am in the process of moving to an area where many more people share my world view and am quite excited about it.

Libertarian in a rural Conservative setting, just outside a bat**** crazy metro area dominated by progressives ( not liberals, progressives)

the good news is, I don't have to mind my own business... everybody else has no problem minding it for me ;)

Sacramento has fewer people then Portland oregon and they're the tail wagging a state with a population larger then canada?

Basically it's real conservative where no one lives, not a sign that bodes well for Calif

Yup, because the people in Northern California are absurdly liberal and they get their people into power, which ruins it for everyone.

It's quite conservative, but conservatives don't tend to pack in like sardines in big cities, they like freedom and space.

Yeah, I'm sure Redding and Yreka and Susanville and Truckee and Placerville are bastions of liberal thought

SoCal drives it, 25/35 million people live the Southern California area. The bay is 6 million. That's your problem. Northern CA is a blip on the screen
