Your lean and what kind of district/state that you live in

One thing I've noticed is I tend to see a lot of people from one political party or another that have viewpoints that are completely opposite than the city or state they live in. A hardcore conservative from California. A hardcore liberal from Alabama etc.

I'm curious what % of posters here are from areas that have the same political viewpoint they do compared to different political viewpoints.

Well in my hometown (very rural) is definitely opposite but where I am now (Montreal) more people share my lean.

Very conservative area in my immediate locality. I'm more socially liberal, and fiscally conservative than the majority here.

    I live in Connecticut.

For the most part, I'd say I'm pretty much isolated from those who think as I do.

I watch as the opposites dismantle the city and state around me.

I live on the Kansas side of the KC metro. While the city of Kansas City is fairly liberal and the inner ring burbs where I live are fairly moderate, the state of Kansas is deeply red.

Based on electoral results I am in the mainstream.

My party has been in power since 2000 and just gained seats in the last election as we chose the first woman to be elected to the job of premier. However the mainstream here would be left of me

Iowa is reasonably evenly split between Reps and Dems, so I feel ok in that regard. Even most Reps and Dems here, in my observations, are more open-minded and willing to vote un-stereotypically than where I used to live (California), which was/is a cluster-eff of hyper-partisanship.

Everybody in the area shares my views. Why wouldn't they? It's either that or risk a load of sludge delivered to their front yards, so it's really a no-brainer.

I live near Portland, Oregon which is very liberal. Our Congress person has always been a liberal. Other parts of Oregon are conservative. We've had Republican Governors, but they have been fairly liberal.
