Possibly or maybe she just not realize it was offensive. It is not a term I have heard often, even growing up in the south, and when I heard it it was more in the context of referring to black's in relation to music than with intended maliciousness. Not sure. Don't know anything about the woman. Some people just want to be offended. Even when people say something I find offensive, I usually just let it go, so I do not understand why people are so touchy especially considering that the word sounds so silly to begin with.

Maybe it says something about an inexperienced hair do that talks who is under qualified for the job.

In Europe and here, we have professionals on air, they have been trained and know what they're talking about. They do not go into grey areas, they do not trip controversial words, they do not make fun of brown babies in a sea of Mormon white.

In the US, anyone can be an anchor provided they are pretty, the men at least, can read a teleprompter and have good hair. No one really pays any attention to them until the **** u[p and then even if it's not racist, it will be before they can make copies of the tape.

The US is dependent on the "low information voter" and so they have conceived the "low information anchor" to match.

They were right to fire her, not for a racist remark, but because she shouldn't be there in the first place. Anyone who doesn't know that word may be offensive does not belong in the business I loved for more than 25 years. She should be an Obama aid

Kinda silly but if it appeases everyone...okie dokie.

Its EXTRAORDINARILY obvious that the woman had no idea what the word meant and was struggling trying to describe Lady Gaga's musical style. Any question of that would be answered by ANYONE describing Lady Gaga's music style as being 'jiggaboo', or black/ethnic.

Now personally I had not heard the word and I am not sure masses of people in America would have heard that word used too many times either.

But I looked it up and it is a disparaging and offensive word for a black person

She was describing music made by Lady Gaga and sitting next to a black co-anchor when she said:

“It’s hard to really hear her voice with all that jigaboo music — whatever you want to call it — jigaboo!”

Now she has since apologized sincerely for her words but still, was it right for her employer to suspend her?
Where I grew up "Jigaboo" always meant n*****: "Jungle Bunny": same thing.

That Fox News idiot knew what was being said.

All those articles are the same written by the same person that doesnt exactly prove your point

News hounds slogan: "we watch Fox so you dont have to" no bias there

Being affiliated with Fox says nothing about local anchors I would think and as this is not a political but racially sensitive issue, who cares for whom she works. If she had been working for MSNBC affiliate says......., my story would have started with "MSNBC affiliate suspends anchor etc. etc..
The article you picked for your OP described the anchor as a Ohio anchor you made the decision to change it to Fox and it was clearly for a political reason

None of us knows what she intended or what is in her heart. But in 2015 a slip like this guarantees chants of "Crucify her!"

Her employer has made the decision, and three days isn't so bad. The public humiliation will be far worse, and all I have to say about that is that if you earn your living speaking, you are eventually going to open your mouth and have a toad hop out. It's going to happen, and you can only hope that it's an entirely inadvertent double entendre.

She knew it was a racial slur but said it on live television in front of her black co-anchor with whom she is good friends?? Right. But thank you for demonstrating that hateful, intolerant aspect of liberalism that we all know and love.
