What do you think about that?

I'm not sure who it would be. A lot of people liked that Condoleezza Rice. It certainly wasn't Philander C. Knox.

Who were you thinking?

Albright was way better than Clinton or Kerry and she only had 20 days.

Condoleezza Rice was very good.

Haven't only three of those choices in the poll been secretary of state in the 21st Century? The rest were in the last century, were they not?

Out of those listed.....Condi Rice.

Hillary will go down as one of the very worst.....we ever had. Which a lot of her screw ups will be revealed here, shortly.

No, all of this people were Secretary of Defense in the 21st Century.

The obvious answer is Tea Leoni.

I think John Kerry has had one of the most difficult jobs considering he's had to circumvent a recalcitrant and fearful administration to be effective. The Syria hearings were a good example of that. Overall I think he's probably been the most effective Secretary of State, and one of the most challenged, that we've had in a long while. I think Condoleezza Rice wasn't as effective nor was she as necessary given the strength of support she had from the administration and how her efforts were often secondary to ongoing policy from the administration. Similarly I think Clinton was competent but I don't think she was that severely challenged nor was she as aggressive as Kerry in pursuing policy aims.

Where is the 'None of the above' option?

Define effective in this context please.

Showed up for work.

Well Hillary showed up for work and flew all over the world.

I was hoping "effective" in this context meant results.

No no.....just showed up. Milked it for the money. Frequent Flyer miles don't count as anything but excess waste.

The list of accomplishments validates that.

Albright wasn't in the 21st century unless you're trying to count the last 21 days of the second Clinton term. If I'm not mistaken, technically, the 21st century didn't begin until January 1, 2001.

As for the others, anyone who is/was Secretary of State under Obama is at a handicap since they would be reporting to Valerie Jarrett and Jarrett couldn't find her ass if you placed her hands behind her back, palms down.

As for the two Bush Secretaries of State, both served at a time when your country was primarily leading a world war and their time was spent traveling to secure coalition agreement. Seeing the troubles both Obama Secretaries have had in gaining any kind of cooperation on foreign policy issues, the two Bush Secretaries should get points for their success.

All that said, not a one of them is in the class of some of the very fine Secretaries of State to serve your country - my favourite being Kissinger.

Mornin CJ :2wave: Well to be honest Kissinger at least put aides around him who knew what was going on with any given area......and Team BO can't be blamed for the likes of Gloria Nuland, Samantha Powers or Susan Rice. Somehow, someway, the Bushes never trimmed those who didn't belong in government out.

So that's on them for letting them stick around to become the mouths they are.

Kim Kardashian.

Hillary has always been a professional scape goat. She embraces her place in the world. She will go down in history as the very worst but she is cool with that.

I'm not an Obama basher but she took a lot of heat on his behalf. Obama was unscathed in the 2012 election by the incompetence he proved at Benganzi. It was conveniently Hillary's fault.

He even publicly punished her for his own short comings. :spank:

Well she did have her role in Libya.....and she was the one to get BO to cross the line he didn't want to at the time. But then Johnny Quest McCain, The Neo Cons, and the French turned up the Heat and the Pressure on him.

Which you know.....BO can't handle to much when Jarret isn't around.
