So you want this to be about me, Joe? Go find out Mr Carter's response to your questions.

I was just listening to an NBC audio clip reporting that she was actually asked about it--I can't imagine doing that as a reporter but oh well--and she said she was neither uncomfortable and didn't think anything about it. Joe is that way with everybody.

Don't get me wrong. I've been aware of and watching Joe Biden since the 1970's and was even a fan until he decided to sell out principle for political expediency. He has in the past been known to be a ladies man and didn't exactly follow the customary rules for Catholic courtship when wooing his wives and his many political and social gaffes are legendary. But he has remained pretty scandal free with no rumors of misconduct except for that plagiarism thing in 2008. He is now 72 years old. I don't think Stephanie Carter was uncomfortable in that scene.

Well that clears up the whole debate really. If she is cool with it, then it's all good. I wouldn't be but to each their own.

Some people are touchy/feely some aren't. I personally don't like physical contact or standing too close to someone I don't know. Others are the complete opposite, a pat on the back, squeeze of the shoulder, lean in when they talk. I don't think it's creepy, unless you honestly thing Biden is making a pass at a married women in front of her husband and camera's. If that's the case, the Onion Joe Biden articles are hard hitting journalism instead of just satire.

Would have been great to see the husband turn around and tell him to "get your hands off my wife".

Thanks for sharing, and good point about him never being in a scandal/affair!? I also don't think most would answer that question honestly(publicly) b/c of the awkward position it would put them in. By no means am I saying she's lying, just that it wouldn't be wise(for her) to make a big stink out of it, even if she did feel uncomfortable.

The photo of the Carters and Bidens I posted up there is another illustration that could be really misinterpreted if somebody wasn't there to see the whole scene. Both my husband and I are huggers and affectionately (and perfectly innocuously) touch people too. As do many of our friends. So if it was a close friend, I don't think I would likely have been uncomfortable in that scene. If it was somebody I didn't know well, then yes, I would have been uncomfortable. But again the Bidens and Carters have been social friends for a long time now.

When President Bush, also a hands on guy, touch/feely type who has never been accused of improprieties in that department, impulsively and inappropriately put his hands on Angela Merkel's shoulders, he did really screw up. She was obviously uncomfortable and he was no doubt very embarrassed. But creepy? No. Just quintessential Bush.
