Prison camp escapee: North Korea won't change its repressive ways
Prison camp escapee: North Korea won't change its repressive ways - CNN.com

OMG. we should all feel so much better, Israel is running prison camps, not camps that concentrate the Palestinians in a couple tight spots.

Btw, channel 2, Israel's most popular news channel heard Cameron's comment and reported it as "concentration camp"!!!

Depends on how you want to look at it, the situation could be described as a concentration camp.

But that aside. I had not formed an opinion on it when I started the thread, but it might be wise to make Israel a party to the NPT as a nuclear weapons state. IF they are willing to exhibit a reasonable degree of transparency on their program, and IF they can show that they had the weapons before the NPT and exactly how they were able to develop them in secret.

It is amazing that although Jewish people suffered so at the hands of the Nazis, that they would impose such severe suffering on the Palestinians. Very cruel.

It is amazing that with all the slaughter of and hatred of Jews, for some people its not enough as long as there is 1 Jew left.

Yeah, I have done a great job. Hurray for you.
We already know you have done a great job at posting baloney. You don't need to tell us.
So how about we stop trading quips and get back to the subject?

There has been no hypocrisy shown.

It's amazing that all you can do is spew that old beat in the ground charge of anti-Semitism.

That said, his notions about quantum-locality were indeed mistaken.

What exactly was he mistaken about?

I agree. But as others have pointed out, getting Israel to become a party to NPT will be a heavy lift. But they do get a **** load of aid from us. Btw, did Obama stop aid to Israel. USFP, is pretty consistent and transcends administrations, that should be telling.

You are correct in that Israel is a huge part of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; it does not help that the US uses a double standard which favors Israel. Every time the UN seek to impose a resolution on Israel, the US vetoes it. The reason for this is manifold. The Fundamental Christians in America believe only when all the Jews return to Palestine aka Israel, will the Messiah return again. Another reason is political money. AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, contributes handsomely to both parties, Republican and Democrat so that practically the entire congress is pro-Israel. This combination makes dispensing equal justices regarding the Israel/Palestinian conflict upside down. There will never be peace as long as Israel controls the US congress via a hefty election/re-election campaign contributions to the power hunger American congress.

This Israeli/Palestinian conflict ripples poisonously throughout the middle east and is like a cancer. The Arabs hate the US along with Israel. Europe is also against Israel because of its continued occupation of the West Bank and is planning on future sanctions.

Good post!

that's the height of hypocrisy
if israel is seeking to reign in nuclear proliferation it should sign the NPT
and comply with its terms
until then, its views should carry NO weight on the matter

and if it truly wants to deny iran nuclear arms, it should abandon its own nuclear arms
then, iran would have no more justification to attain nuclear parity
israel is an international hypocrite on this issue

Although I agree with you, they are not going to give up their nuclear weapons. I think what needs to happen is that they become a party to the NPT as a nuclear weapons state provided that they prove that they had the weapons before the NPT and that they show exactly how they were able to develop them.

Yeah it will be a heavy lift, but that's why I say they probably need to become a party as a nuclear weapons state. They will need to be transparent about their program tho.

Well practically speaking Obama, although quite intelligent, was just a half black guy from Chicago with no money. He has to deal with a very powerful group of people in the Jews. It is amazing that he has stoop up to them this much. Quite a bit of courage on his part.

Thankfully, though a minority, there are survivors of the holocaust that are ashamed of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians.

But some Holocaust survivors cite the Holocaust as the very reason they oppose Israeli policy; specifically, its treatment of Palestinians. These people see that oppressing Palestinians is not just unnecessary and wrong, but hypocritical for a nation founded to provide people with a refuge from oppression. For them, the lesson of the Holocaust isn't "never again" for Jews. It's never again for anyone, including Palestinians.

I'm telling you. Some Jewish people are really awesome. Some of them have been very, very nice to me personally. It's so disappointing to see their state use such cruel tactics. Very disappointing.

He has stood up to the State of Israel probably more than any president in modern history at least. One aspect of his foreign policy I appreciate.

Yes he has. James Baker and H W Bush tried to stand up to them too. But they are very difficult to deal with. You see how Boehner disgustingly invited Netanboohoo to speak? That is beyond whack. Who the hell wants to hear that guy talk. Even Sarkozy said he was a liar.

There is no double standard.

Every time the UN seek to impose a resolution on Israel, the US vetoes it.
Add that is a good thing as the UN is in the wrong.

This combination makes dispensing equal justices regarding the Israel/Palestinian conflict upside down.
Distorted reality.

There will never be peace as long as Israel controls the US congress via a hefty election/re-election campaign contributions to the power hunger American congress.
More distortions of reality.
They are not controlled.

You see how Boehner disgustingly invited
More exaggeration. Figures.

The White House knew of the invitation prior to his accepting it.

Which was the same as previously happened with no flack from the White House.
Yet this time Obama wanted to make a big deal about it. :doh

You bring up a good point. The president being in charge of foreign policy should have been consulted on that matter. Those that think it shows guts on the part of republicans and a measure of frustration with the president would be raising hell if this was done to a republican president............just pointing out the ever present hypocrisy of the partisan.
