If people don't want to vote for Bush over this, then I'm sure Huckabee or Walker or Santorum will be happy to get their vote.
It was the husband that got the courts involved in the first place in Florida. He didn't want to make a decision that could land him in jail, so he got the state involved. Now he is complaining the Governor got involved. A little too late at this point.

The husband asked the state to get involved.

Don’t trust Jeb Bush with the power of the presidency

I was disappointed by Michael Putney’s Feb. 6 Other Views column about the legacy of Jeb Bush (First round goes to Jeb, Feb. 4). Putney writes that it was “doctrinaire liberals” who opposed Bush’s involvement in the tragic case of Terri Schiavo — my then-wife.

Who is Putney referring to as the “doctrinaire liberals” who were horrified by the former governor’s intervention in my family’s trauma? The Republican Attorney General Charlie Crist, who refused to take up the governor’s crusade? Republican Senate President Jim King, who fought Bush on passage of “Terri’s Law?” Pinellas County Judge George Greer, a Republican and Southern Baptist, who looked at the evidence of my wife’s case before having his rulings tossed aside by a governor who never met her?

Does he mean me, a registered Republican?

The truth about Jeb Bush is that he used my wife for his own personal political gain. You don’t have to be a doctrinaire liberal to be angry about that. In fact many conservatives were also horrified by Bush’s zealous intervention.

Remember that Nixon committed treason and was still elected, so if this is all you got on Jeb then his chances of winning are looking good.

But that was in the age of slow news media. The time of slow commercial and before the internet.
Former military man (and now babysitter of Donald Trump) John Kelly, is a big loud lying empty barrel!

Well, he had no choice from what I can remember. He wanted his wife to die from an infection (like a lot of vegetative patients die as I have been told). With the advice of his doctors he had decided to not treat the bladder infection and that would have let her die. But then her parents decided to put a stop to that and that is when I think they threatened to go to court and have him removed as the person who made the medical decisions about his wife.

I'm not seeing how slow media has anything to do with the discussion. LBJ chose not to blow the lid off it. If LBJ had chosen otherwise, it would have been all over the news, internet or no internet.

...and there would have been a civil war, which is why LBJ chose not to.

Really? Now campaigns that would take serious money and serious time to organize can now be done so quickly that it is ridiculous. With a smart internet campaign it is very easy to bombard the Bush campaign with negative video's about this subject. That is the power of the fast media, loads of full time news shows full of talking heads, tens of millions spent on a great number of commercials etc. etc. etc.

Now there are dozens of possible PAC's and with a small budget they can swiftboat the hell out of this subject if they want to.

I see Jeb Bush's last name as a much bigger problem.

Speed of the media isn't relevant. There's a reason this is in the news now before the election cycle has even begun. It's the same reason the Lewinsky scandal was in the news before Hillary became a serious candidate. These stories are the politician's own campaign clearing the air.

If you think this story is an attempt to take out Bush then you don't know politics. This story was mos likely brought up by Bush supporters so that when stories like this matter, this story will be old news even in the context of an election; people on both sides just won't care anymore.

This tells me that the left is seriously concerned about a Jeb Bush run for the Presidency.

If anything, this incident will benefit Bush rather than hurt him, but it will most likely be irrelevant to those who would consider voting for Bush.
