Don’t trust Jeb Bush with the power of the presidency

I was disappointed by Michael Putney’s Feb. 6 Other Views column about the legacy of Jeb Bush (First round goes to Jeb, Feb. 4). Putney writes that it was “doctrinaire liberals” who opposed Bush’s involvement in the tragic case of Terri Schiavo — my then-wife.

Who is Putney referring to as the “doctrinaire liberals” who were horrified by the former governor’s intervention in my family’s trauma? The Republican Attorney General Charlie Crist, who refused to take up the governor’s crusade? Republican Senate President Jim King, who fought Bush on passage of “Terri’s Law?” Pinellas County Judge George Greer, a Republican and Southern Baptist, who looked at the evidence of my wife’s case before having his rulings tossed aside by a governor who never met her?

Does he mean me, a registered Republican?

The truth about Jeb Bush is that he used my wife for his own personal political gain. You don’t have to be a doctrinaire liberal to be angry about that. In fact many conservatives were also horrified by Bush’s zealous intervention.

I remember his getting involved, and thought even then that it was a political ploy to get votes. It was just awful, what he did. He should have stayed out of it, and left it to the family.

Oh man...the flea circus that we are about to be exposed to for the next 2 years.......
That creature had a head full of Jello and Jeb had no business overruling the courts, the doctors and her husbands wishes. The sickest thing is that those that wanted to keep that mindless body functioning were supposed to be religious yet did everything they could to prevent her soul from going to heaven. It shows how much they really believe. They would go to any lengths to play God but not trust in him.

If people don't want to vote for Bush over this, then I'm sure Huckabee or Walker or Santorum will be happy to get their vote.
Hillary certainly will be happy that Huckabee or Santorum gets the vote.

Re: Does Jeb Bush have a Terri Schiavo Problem?

What I find strange is that I (a social democrat and the opposite of a Bush supporter) is one of the few who think it is not such a big issue and most posters here think it is.

Why do you all think it will be such a big problem? Will it be a problem in the primaries with the other republicans or will it become an issue if he would possibly become the republican candidate?
Former military man (and now babysitter of Donald Trump) John Kelly, is a big loud lying empty barrel!

Yes that is what the husband said, now try to get the real story.

See what the attorney for the wife's family has to say.
