Good or bad thing to do

I don't blame you for not watching it Maggie. I did and it was absolutely awful. I hate to say it, but it was very well produced. It personified evil.

I didn't watch it either. I watched some of the beginning, but I didn't watch the death... I don't need to see that. I have seen some things of those Faces of Death videos, and that is enough for me.

well, I might see the point if indeed the propaganda could in any way benefit ISIS... but showing this video, especially in the western world, can't benefit them in the least.

if you were pissed about hearing the story, you aren't going to come to love them by watching he video, that's for damned sure.

I can understand not watching if one can't handle "gore" .... but the propaganda thing doesn't really make much sense at all.

IS attempt to create fear and hysteria amongst us all. Their aim is to justify the unjustifiable and to terrorise and demoralise us along with attempting to recruit the vulnerable. They see that as a benefit. Why would anyone want to assist them in that way by sharing their idiotic messages? I refuse to. I won't give them the satisfaction of getting in my head and using me as a pawn to spread their propoganda war. No gutless, crazy, extremist who thinks it's ok to target civilians is going to get in my head and stop me living my life the way i choose.

It's nothing to do with the "can't handle gore" aspect Thrilla. I've been a paramedic for many years, there's not much i have not seen or been exposed to.

Whether it be shooting victims, people jumping to their deaths from the twin towers after 9/11, civilians killed in ME confllicts or those killed at the hands of IS, I'm very consistent in my views relating to my distaste at those who share images of victims to push their agenda.

were you pissed when you heard about the dude getting burned alive?
No, not really I know why they did it. They want the west to put boots on the ground, so they can kill them.

I didn't mean to come across as saying you couldn't handle gore.... just that i understood not wanting to watch the video if one can't handle gore.

as for the rest, everyone is pissed just hearing about the story....are we now to shut down reporting on these stories because it is passing along their "propaganda"?
that's the only way to subvert this "fear and hysteria" you speak of ... to simply not report on any of these stories whatsoever.

I mean, i have no problem with someone who choose not to watch it for whatever reason.. but choosing not to watch it is a far cry from not wanting it shown to anyone at all.... I don't find such censorship to be cool whatsoever.

I've seen the video... i was no more pissed off after watching it than i was when i read it in print...such images don't really have too much of an effect on me... beheadings, war deaths, sniper kills, etc etc... no big deal to me
oddly enough, i can't watch kids crash on bikes or skateboards , though... not sure why, but i hate those "fail" videos.... I've no clue why i'm weird that way:lol:

It's not journalism, it's sensationalism. Fox News continues to disgrace and discredit itself.

It definitely is sensationalism. I was at work, and all the conservative, Fox News viewers were really pissed off after the news broke. They want to go to war. This video really upset them, and this man's death is being used to push a cause. I wonder, what do they really know about the young man and his life?

I would guess, nothing.

I don't watch the news much, but I watch enough to know this story was heavily covered and little to nothing was said out of respect for him or his memory. I read an article about him online, and I felt that was more important than remembering him by the video in OP. He was a newlywed. I think he married 6 months before flying on his mission. He always wanted to be a fighter pilot, and he was a devout Muslim. People said he committed large sections of the Quran to memory. His family and ancestral tribe was loyal to the monarch for centuries. He died fighting ISIS.

I am so sad for him and his family. It is so tragic. I am glad the people of Jordan have rallied behind the family. The media could be doing a better job of covering the story without sensationalism.

Well let's see. Jordan retaliated, and, in turn, killed an American hostage. Amiright?
:lamo You believe ISIS. Holy ****...talk about being a slave to 'propaganda'....

No wait...Im going to let that sink in a bit...relish it. You ACTUALLY ****ing believe ISIS....

It's all good, i understand where you are coming from. I'd just like to reiterate what i said in my first post. I'm clearly not suggesting that the stories aren't reported on at all.

I absolutely support discussions relating to the threat that IS pose and the reporting and sharing of information associated with current events, everyone should be paying attention to what the current situation is, but i simply will not aid them by spreading their heinous propaganda and buoying their cause.

I'm just not a fan of the victims being used as propoganda tools, which is clearly what IS is doing. No issues at all with their deaths being reported in MSM but it is completeley unnecessary to show full details of their executions. We already know IS is really, really bad, we don't need to see executions to convince us.

the west is already pissed and outraged, even without seeing the video....
are you going to now come out in opposition to even reporting on the story, or are you going to backtrack from this retarded comment?

The only reason why Karl Rove showed the video is to gin up even more hatred toward Obama and Clinton with their audience, if that's possible.
And yes, you already knew that.

And using the word retarded is clearly non-Libertarian of you .

holy ****... dude, are you ok?...
you're posting about Karl rove, Hillary and Obama in a thread about an ISIS video on FOXnews... what the holy hell?

"retarded" is "non-libertarian"?.....

dude, go get your wife and have her see you to a Doctor, something is not right

well, as long as you aren't calling for censorship, it's all good with me....everyone should be free to make the choice for themselves.

you're posting about Karl rove, Hillary and Obama in a thread about an ISIS video on FOXnews... what the holy hell?
Then you are denying that Karl Rove decides what will be shown on FOX.
And you are denying that there is a link to showing this video and FOX's 24/7 mantra of everything Obama has done wrong in the ME.
While yer also denying the link to Clinton, who FOX refers to as the third term of Obama.

I won't ask you if yer ok--that's yer thing to do ?

"retarded" is "non-libertarian"?.....
dude, go get your wife and have her see you to a Doctor, something is not right

Why are you defending using the word retard toward another poster in this forum?
I stand by my comment that true Libertarians don't feel this way.

And why in the world would you bring up my wife in any post anywhere on this forum?
Let alone having my wife get me to a doctor because you've diagnosed me as "something is not right"--your words !

Then you are denying that Karl Rove decides what will be shown on FOX.
I absolutely deny that.. he's a contributor.. a talking head.. he doesn't decide anything about content on the website.

And you are denying that there is a link to showing this video and FOX's 24/7 mantra of everything Obama has done wrong in the ME.
I absolutely deny that too, the video has nothing to do with Obama.... this might shock you, but not everything is about Obama.
this video is about ISIS

While yer also denying the link to Clinton, who FOX refers to as the third term of Obama.
Clinton has nothing to do with the video either...and I disagree that Hillary would be Obamas 3rd term...
she would be George W. Bushs 5th term.

I won't ask you if yer ok--that's yer thing to do ?
I'm fine... I'm not the one showing some very strange behavior here... and i wasn't joking either.
ya might be a political hack of epic proportions, but that doesn't mean you aren't worthy of my concern.

Why are you defending using the word retard toward another poster in this forum?
I stand by my comment that true Libertarians don't feel this way.
I love the word "retard".. it's a good word.... and yes, i'm aware some people are offended by it, so i suggest they not use it.
there's no such thing as a " true libertarian".. ideological purity does not exist on earth.... and the word "retard" has nothing to do with any political ideology

And why in the world would you bring up my wife in any post anywhere on this forum?
Let alone having my wife get me to a doctor because you've diagnosed me as "something is not right"--your words !
because you are sounding very confused.. extremely confused.... I figured your wife would be the best person to help you out if something was wrong.

You think she's not dead? US Intelligence and her parents have confirmed it, so that is good enough for me:

Kayla Mueller's parents had been holding out hope.

But on Tuesday, the American ISIS hostage's family revealed devastating news.

They received it, officials said, in a message from her captors.

"We are heartbroken to share that we've received confirmation that Kayla Jean Mueller has lost her life," the family said in a statement. "Kayla was a compassionate and devoted humanitarian. She dedicated the whole of her young life to helping those in need of freedom, justice and peace."

ISIS sent the family a private message over the weekend, National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan said.

"Once this information was authenticated by the intelligence community, they concluded that Kayla was deceased," Meehan said.

The message sent to the family included photos. One picture showed her wrapped in a burial shroud, but there was enough showing for the family and forensics examiners to identify her, according to a U.S. official briefed on the matter.

Why do you think she is still alive?

Then you are denying that Karl Rove decides what will be shown on FOX.

I'll deny it. I don't think Rove has any input at all on what Fox News airs.

How would YOU feel??? Say your husband got hit by a train and it was caught on video surveillance. Say CNN publishes the video on their website... what would you do?

This has nothing to do with my husband getting hit by a train. The subject of the poll isn't "How should the family of the man who was burned alive feel about a video being released and morbid people watching it".

I never watched the video. I also never looked at pictures of a dead Sharon Tate. I also didn't watch the videos of the poor innocent people jumping off the World Trade Center towers. I also didn't look at pictures of a dead Suddam Hussein.

By the way, if my husband got hit by a train, the least of my concerns would be people watching the video of it happening.

You're looking for emotion about this, and for some reason you want me to post about the emotion of the matter. I won't. I don't watch this kind of thing so I don't care who puts it out there. Ask those who watch it the emotional questions.

I'll deny it. I don't think Rove has any input at all on what Fox News airs.

Karl Rove decides what Fox will air? That comment's in the wrong forum. Unless I accidentally stumbled into the Conspiracy Theory section.

Why do you think she is still alive?
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Pentagon says American hostage Kayla Jean Mueller died at the hands of Islamic State and not in a Jordanian airstrike targeting the militant group. Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby was asked Tuesday if there was any doubt who killed the aid worker. He replied: "No doubt. ISIL," using the initials the group is known by.

Without batting an eyelash, you couldnt WAIT to toss out the ISIS propaganda line. Lets see...a group of savage assholes that have been butchering men women and children, that are on video crushing childrens heads in with rocks, that gleefully behead people in the glorious name of Allah, and that recently torched a human being rushed to blame the death of a hostage on retaliation. Gosh...if only those eeeeevil Jordanians hadnt responded....she would still be alive. And you swallowed hard.

I cannot even begin to express how ****ing pathetic it is that people like you are so consumed in your hatred of a news agency that you would actually repeat the propaganda lies of a terror organization.

The end result of ISIS releasing that video was not a propaganda gain for ISIS. It was a complete and total failure. IT inspired those previously silent to finally raise their voice. IT shocked and horrified people out of their silence. Rather than simply admit the truth...you spew your hatred of Fox News and repeat a propaganda lie spoon feed to you be terrorists.

NO VOTE
I'd have to seen ALL of the ISIS videos and then determine .. And this I'll NOT do .. Maybe my mind is either too weak , or too open ..IMO, it will take an excellent psychiatrist to understand ISIS .. I just think they are a brutal, cowardly insane group of hateful extremist conservative criminals, with NO decent qualities .. Yet people join them .. Is this the quality of people that we have today ?
Scary ..

Greetings, tres borachos. :2wave:

Me neither, Tres. I don't need to see cruelty on the part of ISIS or anyone else to know it exists. When I saw the video of the gentle elephant in India with tears in his eyes as he was being freed from his shackles after 30 years of being beaten, starved, and worked to death, I sat at my computer table crying for a long time. Have some people become so used to personal misery in their life that they lose all sense of right and wrong? It's the only explanation I can come up with when I think of groups like ISIS, because no baby is born mean - it is taught to them, IMO.
Agree ! Should a world organization take over the education of children ? A thought, but ludicrous and impossible , so we will have to continue to suffer ..

I think it depends on why they are showing the video. I they are trying to stir the public into lets bomb these animals until kingdom come in order to motivate the public into endorsing another war in the middle east then it is bad. If they are simply trying to show how evil these animals are then its possible it might be good. I do not know about you but I do not need a video of animals lighting a man on fire to know that ISIL is evil.I am sure most people don't as well. So I suspect the intent in to enrage the public enough into supporting another war that we have no business in.
War is not the solution , but many, maybe too many , think that it is ...
Frustrating !
Love is the answer , so easy to say, yet so hard to practice .
