On the way home I had a far out experience. I had to stop and pick up some birth control pills. Because of an error, they had not put it on the insurance, so originally they were going to charge me about $125. However, when they realized they needed to put it on my insurance, IT TURNED OUT THE PILLS WERE FREE AND I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING!!!! MAN WAS I HAPPY!!! The pharmacist informed me that the pills were free because of the Affordable Care Act.

Not only that, but I have a daughter who just got out of grad school. Because of the ACA she is able to be on my insurance until she finds a job. That is a very great benefit for her.

Bottom line is that, I must really thank Obama. He has actually helped me. He actually saved me $125 today!!!

The thing is this, Obama said he wanted to do things to make a difference in the lives of middle class people like me. Man did I really feel it in my pocket. I really had not noticed it before, but Obama has made a difference! I guess this kind of thing would be meaningless to a rich person, but these things actually mean something to me.

Way to go Barack Obama!!!!!

I still don't take back all the bad stuff I have said about him tho!!! :lamo

Oh, believe me I am a taxpayer. I pay thousands of dollars in income tax every year. One year I paid $20,000, so I don't want to hear that crap.

I am not on obamacare, but my girlfriend is... and she is having a really hard time because of the high deductibles. Every time she goes to the doctor or sees a specialist she has to pay completely out of pocket.... almost impossible for a recent graduate in a research assistant job.

Well, most likely you'll have to pay more in the end than what you actually gained.... I think that's the point really

I don't know what you mean by not on obamacare, but my insurance is through my job. The pills were free because ACA requires insurance to cover them.

Anybody with medical insurance/Medicare/Medicaid is on Obamacare.

I don't know, but my premiums are the same. Some of the coverage is quite a bit different this year tho. Maybe you are right. But today, I really did see savings. I was very very happy about that.

It can be seen that way because, as my example illustrates, it affected me, although I am not on some government health plan. I think that it also requires everyone to have insurance which was a sore point. I have problems with that aspect as well.

I am talking about public exchange healthcare at the state or federal level

He didn't say that the tax payer paid for the birth control pills. He said his insurance company did.

So you don't have insurance at all?

It's all Obamacare. The only ones not on Obamacare are the 31 million without any health care coverage at all.

More for the insurance, yes. Either he will or his employer will.

But not as a taxpayer, because if he has insurance, then he won't have to pay the tax/fine.

shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I actually don't....but yea, I know the afordable care act affects the policys of all private insurance, but I was talking about the public exchange service...you know the ones who didn't have health insurance before.

then you have Obamacare.

Almost all insurance policies are Obamacare compliant. There are some rare exceptions, but those policies don't cover birth control and don't exempt anyone from the personal mandate.

.....Well what am I supposed to call the public exchange healthcare as opposed to the private insurance.

Let's look at what I'm going through right now and then you tell me. I'm suffering from adhesion capsulitis in my right shoulder commonly known as frozen shoulder. Hurts like a bitch. Trip to the specialist cost $60 for him to tell me what I already knew. Had to schedule an appointment for treatment (which I expected to get in the first visit). The visit for a cortisone shot cost me $200 towards my deductible. The same issue a couple of years ago was far less.

You can purchase Obamacare compliant policies from any insurance company. It doesn't have to be on the exchange, there is nothing really special about the exchanges, other than a website to purchase insurance on. the rates are about the same, on the exchange and off the exchange. I checked into both options.

Whatever it is, I was glad to save $125!!! Dang that felt good!!!

I had insurance prior to the exchanges, then last year I purchased a policy on the federal exchange.

This year, for several reasons, I decided not to purchase insurance at all. It just doesn't make sense in my particular situation.

All the policies sold on the exchange ARE private insurance policies. the government doesn't sell insurance on the exchange. these are private insurance companies who are marketing their policies using the exchanges as a marketing tool, little different than purchasing a policy from the website of any insurance company.

My doct charges $55 for a office visit, $25 extra for a cortisone shot. She doesn't accept insurance at all. Not medicare, not medicade, not BC/BS, not Obamacare or any other policy. I just pay cash at the time of service.

This is what a lot of people don't understand. Obamacare isn't a health care law, it's a health insurance law. Nothing more (other than a sham of a law).
