Maybe, but Hillary Clinton was also once quite confused by the fog of war.

She imagined being under sniper fire (proving that she is human).

A lying Democrat presidential candidate to replace a lying Democrat president incumbent? Seriously?
Disinformation campaign? The Russian collusion meme pushed by the 'news' media, behaving as a political propaganda organ, hell bent to destroy a legitimately elected president to implement his agenda per the votes of the same electorate. Reference The Big Lie Reference Goebbels

But she insisted that lying just helps one appear more human.

In politics (and now the press?) image is everything and the truth is not nearly so important.

NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams last night had to make the humiliating admission that he was not aboard a helicopter hit by RPG fire during the invasion of Iraq in 2003, a false claim that he made and was repeated by the network for years.

Williams — who’d claimed he was in a chopper forced down by a rocket-propelled grenade 12 years ago — repeated the story on Friday’s newscast during a tribute for a retired sergeant major.

“The story actually started with a terrible moment a dozen years back during the invasion of Iraq, when the helicopter we were traveling in was forced down after being hit by an RPG,” Williams said on Friday’s show. “Our traveling NBC News team was rescued, surrounded and kept alive by an armor-mechanized platoon from the US Army 3rd Infantry.”

He was busted when vet Lance Reynolds commented on the “Nightly News” Facebook page, where the clip was posted, “Sorry, dude, I don’t remember you being on my aircraft. I do remember you walking up about an hour after we had landed to ask me what had happened.”

Amid a vicious ratings battle with ABC’s “World News Tonight,” which has positioned anchor David Muir as an equally strong on-the-scene reporter, Williams, who has a $10 million-a-year deal with NBC, made an embarrassing apology.

He claimed on Facebook that he had confused events: “I spent much of the weekend thinking I’d gone crazy. I feel terrible about making this mistake.” Stars and Stripes, which broke the story, reported that a different Chinook was hit by rockets and “the NBC anchor was nowhere near that aircraft . . . Williams arrived in the area about an hour later on another helicopter.”

Yes, he should go. Totally irresponsible and a disgrace to journalism.

    Didn't she remain in office?

Hillary "sniper fire" Clinton was the first person I thought of too when this story came out.

Not my call (obviously) as I'm not senior management at NBC.

If I WAS senior management there, and the decision was up to me, he would be relieved of his duties as anchor, but not necessarily fired. I would probably give him a new assignment that isn't so plum as the one he has, and I would definitely adjust his salary to account for the downgrade.

Here's what I don't understand. The media regularly orchestrates stories about public policy in which they either stretch the truth, omit facts or twist statistics. These things they do in the coarse of their regular reporting. Slanted media does much more harm to the country than what one news anchor says about him self.

Save your righteous indignation for those things that are important and affect our lives. That's why so many have disdain for MSNBC and Fox. Things they say affect us. Brian Williams story does not.

Nah...NBC should keep him on board and he should keep promoting his lame ass excuse that anyone with a pulse and a measurable IQ can see through. I cant think of a better continuing indictment of Network News than "Hi...this is the NBC Nightly News and I'm Brian Williams"
