Decriminalize it's use and possession federally (not for sales). However, states should have the option to keep it illegal with reasonable penalty or open it up to regulation and taxation. The feds should also continue to pursue foreign imports and foreign domestic growth.

This is a horrible idea. addiction is a serious problem for many, no reason to make more intoxicants easily accessible.

Absolutely opposed to legalization of any drug. I'm fine with closely controlled medicinal use, only with a prescription.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

I realize that much of the GOP is against legalization, but young people are the future and the GOP cannot continue to bet its future on old white guys. GOP candidates will be forced to take a position on marijuana. The Democratic candidates will as well.
Unless something unexpected happens, I believe both Parties will lean toward allowing the states to decide the issue one by one. What I would like to see is the federal government remove marijuana from a schedule one drug to something much lower.

9% who use it become dependent? is that addiction or "Dependence"?
People can get addicted to anything that stimulates the pleasure centers of the brain. Marijuana addiction is much the same as gambling addiction or porn addiction or video game addiction.

    This.

I see no point in jailing someone for having some small amount of marijuana on them for personal use, especially since it is my understanding that it has some real health benefits, at least for some specific health issues.

Marijuana is not, so far as I understand, addicting. Or at least, no more addicting than any other thing that is fun, like playing video games.

    Perhaps I'm wrong about that?

    Re: National Legalization of Marijuana

The vast majority of the public, of all political persuasions, are for legalizing it. Anytime the government opposes the majority of the People it is almost always about money. In this case pharmaceutical companies and the prison industrial complex most definitely don't want it legalized.

At the very LEAST I think they should remove it from schedule I. And I am fine with leaving it to the States.

    Re: National Legalization of Marijuana

NeoCon for legalize it please! Get it on the market and try to rid society off of these much more dangerous and legal psychotropic drugs that are harming a generation. A huge number of people could benefit once legal as so many products can be made from it etc.
