I think if the media would focus a bit more on the tens of thousands of Mexican deaths caused by the cartels in the transportation of pot and other illegal drugs people might count the cost of their toke with a little more trepidation.
So legalize pot and the cartels no longer are involved. Instead we could be paying U.S. farmers to grow a legal weed same way we pay U.S. brewers to make beer.

FWIW, I can't justify harsh penalties for selling something and light penalties for buying it and using it. It's the same voluntary, mutually beneficial market transaction, and it seems that both parties to it should be facing somewhat equivalent legal risks. I'm not accusing you of this, but this kind of disparate treatment seems justifiable only because for most people THEIR kid isn't the low life scum dealer, he's just a normal kid smoking a little pot.

Where I would favor harsh penalties is dealers selling to minors, or for that matter adults supplying it to minors. That's where we all agree the law should step in.

whether or not a chemical can kill the people who abuse or use it shouldn't dictate its legalization.

Marijuana's effects have been nerffed by those who support its legalization. Its a far more destructive drug in reality, especially to young people.

And new strains of the drug DO have much higher levels of THC.

And why do you grow Tomatoes hydroponically ?

They're so easy to grow. They grow like weeds down here in Texas

Good, then you have to smoke less of it!

And, it isn't dangerous. Go have a scotch.

Its inability to NOT kill people does not make it harmless.

What a joke. Its highly destructive especially when consumed by kids.

OK, don't give it to kids. Just like we don't give alcohol to kids.

    Got those overdose stats yet?

The reason I advocate for harsh penalties on the supply side is because there is no addiction on the supply side. Addiction mitigates the penalty for users. Those with addiction need more help than a short stay in jail can provide.

Absolutely I dont excuse addiction. Nor alcoholism. Any adult knows the risks. You take the risks, you pay the consequences...personally, not society thru added laws, bureaucracy and law enforcement/court costs.

Why do I grow them hydroponically? Because I can get them started in January, control every aspect of their growth, bloom cycle and fruiting and grow them 4X as fast, no dirt, and several feet above the ground and all the bugs. And they are amazing tasting.

I currently have a big pile of bananas growing off of one of my plants, and all kinds of other fun stuff, passion fruit, coffee, bamboo, pomegranite, blood orange.
