Is this cartoon racist?

Is this cartoon racist?

As I have said before, when people start excessively leaning on words like stupid, idiotic and absurd, it's a sign of their weakness.

That is right, and it may be why some do not get it. But they are entitled to their opinion and I respect that.

You too. What is the pejorative connotation of "chocolate". And why do you think that's the focus rather than the obvious joke that Obama's performance has been shyte but he's trying to sell it as chocolate, instead (we've seen him claiming everything as a victory no matter how it actually turned out)?

If the SuperStar of the cartoon had been GW Bush, it could have been the same message.

Explain the negative connotation about race that's so subtle.

Like I said, maybe the guy drew it too try and be funny, just a lighthearted cartoon just like you said it was with no deeper meaning. Or perhaps he did it with a much darker meaning, like Mildsteel explained, how sometimes black can be viewed and the guy very subtly put it in a way so some might not see it right away. I have no idea what the guy meant which is why I can't just say it's racist or not because I really don't know the guy's intent.

Either that or they're talking about something that is stupid, idiotic and absurd. Understanding what "excessive" means can help suss out the difference.

Don't backpedal. What's the "much deeper, darker meaning" behind the cartoon. If you can't think of any, then it's a little disingenous for you to argue with people that don't see anything racist about it or to imply that THEY are the ones that can't see the "deeper, darker meaning".

Personally, I think you just like crying "racism" when people are critical of Obama. It's become the gold standard of Obamaphile defense mechanisms.

Yeah, but I suspect the cartoonist would have used something other than chocolate and feces, and that is my point.

No.

Sad thing is that people can claim pritty much anything to be racist.

And that most people who claim something is racist, never actualy saw real racism.

Everything he touches turns to ****. That's the point. That's the joke.

It's impossible to conceive of how you or anyone else could delude themselves into seeing a comment on race.

There is an old joke that says if black is beautiful that my feces is a masterpiece.

The cartoon can be viewed as racist because it subtly plays on the notions of Obama's skin color, chocolate and feces.

Please explain to me how you can portray chocolate, feces and Obama in the same cartoon without lying about brown. It's coincidence, not racism.

I have seen real racism, trust me.

It's subtle and it's racism.

Really? Having everything one touches turn to shyte (instead of gold) isn't a new meme that was only created for Obama. Since the point is that the president has been bragging that every piece of crap legislation (like ObamaCare) is sweetness and goodness and just yummy awesome was the thing that set the table here, not the fact that Obama is half black.

Maybe you can explain how chocolate is a pejorative that is used to denigrate Obama for being black. Wanna take a stab at that? Or do you just want to imply that it's probably so even though you can't point it out.

I have explained why it is racist once, and I don't feel the need to repeat myself to those who wish to hurl words like stupid. Believe what you want. I have made myself clear.

So what is your definition of real racism?

I'm not going to give a definition. Racism is when you watch your father attempt to buy a house in a white neighborhood and the residents come and offer you a house somewhere else because they don't want you in their neighborhood because you are black. That is not a definition, but that is an example and is indeed one of the many things that I have experienced.

Well, you did make yourself clear. You made it clear that you've got nothing but insinuations; the favorite debate mechanism for intellectual cowards.

ok thanks.

I thought you were one of those people who think it is "racist" when I for example say that gangster rap promots a thug culture.

Actually given that there is an old saying that black is beautiful, it's racist against white people.

You are making up connections that do not exist. and then you inject "plays subtly on" because you can't describe how the connections would function in a manner that even you recognize as incoherent. What, they are saying that Obama isn't beautiful?

This is the dumbest accusation of racism at least since the claim that "pick up truck" was a dog whistle

How typical. Carry on.

3 pages in this thread so far and the OP is the only one to find the cartoon racist. Speaks volumes about the OP.
Eh. I don't find it racist either, but just because a view is popular doesn't make it right.
