As Russia continues to arm Ukraine Rebels, do we just let it go?

What do we do for Ukraine?

I just watched this documentary, unbias for either side, and it showed some pretty messed up stuff in Ukraine. It's quite clear that the Ukrainians in the far east want to be with Russia, and that Sector 5 and the rest of Ukraine want them out. Why not just give Russia that little piece of Ukraine?
 
we have our own country to rebuild, and we are not the pro bono global police force. Ukraine is an issue for the EU to address or not address.

Rebuild? What are we rebuilding from? Last I checked we had the strongest economy in a decade.

What's the link to the documentary?

Before watching it, I'd say that we should let Ukraine handle Ukraine's territory. If the parliament strikes a deal with Eastern Ukraine to let them secede, so be it.

Russia however is another manner and we should join the EU in continuing sanctions, and hope that spurs action on Russia withdrawing from Ukraine or wait out Putin's tenure.

No need for a link. It's the one that just got added on netflix. The only Ukraine+Syria doc on netflix.

Messed up stuff. Russia was caught funding and arming the rebels. It was caught on tape

I'm not sure that falls into the category of "rebuilding," but you're right about our infrastructure's need for upgrades.
Both Obama in his SOTU and Bernie Sanders did call for infrastructure investments from the Federal government.

not to mention the damned roads. i'm up your way relatively often, and even the interstates that have just been repaved have potholes. and nationally, the bridge stuff is downright scary sometimes.

I say we stay out of it.The fact Russia is arming rebels is totally irrelevant considering the fact we occasionally arm different sides.I do not know about you but as far as I am concerned the lives of our troops and the tax dollars of our citizens are worth more than the Ukrainians.

Ukraine is the essential element to Russia returning to being a major world superpower. Without Ukraine, Russia is one of many major world powers. With Ukraine, Russia can pursue returning to being above other European countries again in power and influence.

We should modestly arm Ukraine with weapons capable of taking out heavy armor and low altitude aircraft to let it turn into an unending quagmire for Russia. Just enough for neither side to win. Russians will tire of it like they did in Afghanistan and we did in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Your two houses of Congress wisely do not see it that way and unanimously passed the Ukraine Freedom Act of 2014 which was signed into law by President Obama on 18 December 2014.

H. R. 5859 - Sec. 3. Statement of policy regarding Ukraine

It is the policy of the United States to further assist the Government of Ukraine in restoring its sovereignty and territorial integrity to deter the Government of the Russian Federation from further destabilizing and invading Ukraine and other independent countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. That policy shall be carried into effect, among other things, through a comprehensive effort, in coordination with allies and partners of the United States where appropriate, that includes economic sanctions, diplomacy, assistance for the people of Ukraine, and the provision of military capabilities to the Government of Ukraine that will enhance the ability of that Government to defend itself and to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of unlawful actions by the Government of the Russian Federation.

we need to seriously change our global military policy and go back to being a country for a while. then regional powers will be forced to police their own regions. we can worry about Mexico, and if Europe wants to slug it out with Russia over Ukraine, that's on them. enough is enough.

Just let's only help the Eu guarantee peace in Europe. It might be dangerous, because they are rather bad at it And might blow it. but they must learn. We cannot do everything for them alone.
