l was watching a tv serial having such a theme and it made me wonder your thoughts about it. ( the scenario may consist of you (for women ),your sister, wife etc and you learn this event after it happens.

thanks for voting.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Do you mean to ask if we would keep it secret if requested by the victim, or if offered a bribe by the offender, or something else?
Are you referring to a legal issue, or a private and personal one?

you are victim if you are woman.vote as a victim ,lizzie.of course it is private.l believe my question is clear though

Most victims do stay silent, because of the hardships they typically face in trying to get the legal system to convict rapists, and because of the social ostracizing that many rape victims face. They don't stay silent because of a bribe, they stay silent because of the abuse they'll face.

l know .but it is about Money in this poll

well, no, it isn't clear to me, or I would not have asked. Who is offering the money, and for what purposes? It's not that I would take a bribe in either case, but I don't understand the dynamics of the question, and what would be the purpose of the bribery: to protect the victim, or to protect the perp.

rapist doesnt want to be put into jail and wants to go into an agreement with you ( you are victim if you are woman) or with you and your husband ,father etc

you get lost in details lizzie  there is an other option as you see which l put in the poll for you all to make your own explanations

Ahhh- okay, that's clear now. I thought you were asking as a third party to the crime.
I thought you were asking if we, as third-party witnesses, would lie about a rape that we were aware of.
You meant if we were the victim ourselves.
That puts an entirely different light on the situation. If I am the victim, and I am the one who would be either pressing charges, or dropping it, it would probably depend on my financial status, to a great degree. If I was extremely poor, I would probably be able to rationalize dropping it in my own mind.

That is entirely different from my lying if the victim were my friend or family, and the perp was bribing me as a legal witness.

You don't need to feel empathy with it- I just understand how someone who was really hard up could drop the matter altogether, if their situation was bad enough. I'm not saying it's right, or that I agree with it, but I DO understand it.

you were speaking for yourself.thats why l said that.empathy doesnt already mean agreeing.

Your question was EXTREMELY vague...lizzie's questions were both logical and more or less exactly what mine would be.

. it was clear enough to make many vote without asking

Or they stay silent because they aren't really victims of anything, but claiming rape is a nicer story than "oh I got drunk and hooked up with this guy who won't call me, and now I regret it so I'm just going to say I was raped."

Yep. If a man got raped by a woman they'd be calling up their buddies, "Guess what the hell just happened to me, dawg?"

If a woman takes money for sex, doesn't that make her a hooker? And if a guy takes money for someone to have sex with his woman, doesn't that make him a pimp?

Since I don't believe in prostitution, I voted "no."

She means.... if you were raped and your rapist offered to pay you to shut up about it, would you take the money or not?

That was her question.

l dont know but many of you pretend to misunderstand simple questions.

am I supposed to ask whether you would sell your honor or not.would it be more clear but offensive ?

I could care less how many voted. I have often been bored and just voted for something when I was not sure (or really cared much) what the poll was.

Plus, you have had eight responses so far and at least 2 people who read the poll did not know what you meant...which is about 25%. So your poll question could not have been THAT clear.

Whatever, the fact is your question was incredibly vague.

You don't agree...so be it.

I'm saying that if a woman is raped, and the guy pays her to shut up.... if she accepts that money then she just accepted money in exchange for sex: making her a hooker.

For that reason, I think it's wrong.

Think about it. "Well gee, I didn't agree to have sex with him, but he's offering $$$$$ so I guess it's OK."

By taking the money, she's basically agreed to the act. So it's sex in exchange for money.
