If you were contacted to go to the State Of The Union Address to be used as a pawn by the President, would you go?

And to think this is a "worthy thread on this forum".

Absolutely terrifying.

I thought this thread was titled, "State of the Union Pwns".

I'm disappointed.

I would. I'd love to sit in the gallery and get the VIP treatment at such an event, regardless of who is POTUS. I'm a pomp and circumstance girl.

If I had done something particularly worthy of being there sure.

Having wrote a letter saying my life sucked until your highness pushed certain laws, however, does not qualify.

nope.
it doesn't matter who El Presidente is, there's nothing that could get me to DC to sit in on any of their little political circus games.

in an alternate universe, where these addresses actually meant something.. maybe.... but these current campaigns speeches disguised as SoTU addresses are simple political games, nothing more, nothing less.

pomp and circumstance is kinda cool...( I'm a big fan of military pomp and circumstance)... it's the idea of being near all those sharks, cutthroats, assholes, and generally bad people that drives me nuts....the "privileged elite" bug me

i'd never go to some conference of CEOs either.. for much the same reason.... (although, I could say what i want to the CEO's without fear of men with guns hauling my ass away and tossing me in a cell for embarrassing the elite )

i'd rather go to a biker rally or a flea market... or a somewhere that I can find the real people.

I'd go but I'd never be invited again afterwards.

If you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to read it.

I would in a heartbeat, and then post about how wonderful the experience was to all those jealous that they did not manage to get an invite and create threads whining about it.

Well, I'll be damned. So am I.

I enjoy being pampered, catered to and held up to the sunlight like Simba. It doesn't matter who is doing it. The POTUS, my dad, Coach Smith in 5th grade...

You're a pomp and circumstance girl?

Considering the description you gave of what you enjoy and how much I enjoy the same things? Definitely.

What could you possibly do in your life that would have anything to do with the state of the union?

Can you think of an example?

The astronaut they showed during the state of the union.... He has and is doing stuff worthy of being there.

If they paid for my trip down there all expenses paid and it wasn't during a work day then sure. I probably do agree with Obama no 80-90% of the stuff he does. But I am not some partisan hack retard uttering "Obummer not my president". Most average Americans do not get to go those things.

No. Have no interest in going to DC and certainly not to spend hours to just hear another political speech.

I hear the lady who was there ( Obamas story about the young the family who came back from hard hard times) ended up being a Democratic party staffer who has been used in other Obama speeches ...not sure she has done anything worth being invited.

but yeah, spending a year out in space sounds like maximum suckage to me... but it''s pretty cool that someone is doing it... godspeed to him.
