... I can't believe this thread has gone on for 4 pages and nobody has mentioned poutine. Quebec, for all of its political flaws is an amazingly beautiful place.... If you guys ever visit Newfoundland, I encourage you all to try screech rum. I spent some time in the Canadian Maritimes, and they are the stereotypical Canadian person on TV. They're so nice it almost hurts. With that said:

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. - MLK

Canada's military is small compared to ours (hell almost everyone's is), but of very high quality. I know some Canadian vets and I assure you they are consummate professionals in the trade of war.

As for clubbing baby seals, well we don't have a lot of room to talk with all our factory farms and mass slaughter facilities do we?

Frankly I do NOT see Canadians as being spoiled. Not at all. Yes they do depend on the US military umbrella to some degree... but so does half the world, right?
NYC has a bigger police dept. than Canada has a military.

Walking up to baby seals and clubbing them to death for the fur and some beer money is repulsive to anyone with an once of compassion.

Canada lives next door to the largest military machine on the planet which enables them to spend money on social programs and less on defense and then they act superior to us because they have these programs and we don't.

I notice you didn't address the crappy beer part though.

I don't know, Alan Thicke isn't very funny, and Rush is a great band.

I have to make exception for Quebecois truck drivers. I've yet to meet one I didn't want to punch in the mouth.
You could have stopped at Quebecois. Seriously Ive met several and all of those people have something deeply wrong with them

Canada has Skinny Puppy which imho is one of the greatest bands to have ever existed.

I think somebody did mention poutine briefly. I had to look it up... sounds interesting, I'd give it try sometime though I have no idea what cheese curds taste like.

Frankly I do NOT see Canadians as being spoiled. Not at all. Yes they do depend on the US military umbrella to some degree... but so does half the world, right? I enjoy walking around with my son too.... he looks like a Viking warlord and thus nobody bothers us.

Hell if their guns laws were a bit more reasonable I might move to Canada. Bit cold for a Southern boy but...
I know this wasn't posted to me, and I don't want to derail this thread, but I also mentioned the clubbing of baby seals in my post on the first page of this thread. It's the only argument I have against Canada/Canadians (except for a few hockey players). The clubbing of baby seals is a horror beyond most forms of animal abuse. In the USA farms are supposed to be regulated and monitored; they aren't always and there are maniacal assholes who work in them who take pleasure in torturing animals about to be slaughtered, and the humane treatment of animals raised for slaughter is a pet project of mine, but most animals in this country who are slaughtered are slaughtered because humans are omnivores and eat meat. The primary end result of a baby seal who is viciously and inhumanely beaten to death in front of its mother, cowering in sheer terror, are seal skin products worn by the vain and selfish humans.

I apologize for derailing this thread, but please understand that in more ways than one you can not compare what happens to animals slaughtered for food with the baby seals in Canada.
