Question for those that have listened to the Serial podcast.

As you may know the NPR podcast Serial has been the most popular podcast of all time. If you haven't listened to it, then I recommend it. For those that have listened to it, do you believe that Adnan Syed is guilty or not?

I have very serious doubts that Adnan is guilty. I'd put money on the results of the DNA tests that the Innocence project is requesting.

Never heard of him or this podcast.

But no matter what the evidence against/for him...this should be left to and left in a court of law.

It very dangerous to start judging people in the media.

It sure sounds like the evidence certainly leaves room for reasonable doubt. Worst case scenario though.. if he actually did do it... what is another 15 years in prison for him going to do for anyone?

He was convicted 15 years ago.

Lots of room for doubt. It also appears that now Asia McLain is willing to testify to Syed's location at the time of the murder.

Something that should be really disturbing to all of us is that he was sentenced to life+30 when the typical murderer at that time got 20 years. Given that the crime had no aggravating factors the only reason for that is because he refused a plea (or his lawyer didn't bother to try to get him one depending on who you ask) and went to trial forcing mandatory sentencing laws (aka the "trial penalty") to kick in. It is frightening to think of how many innocent people take a plea bargin and lie about their guilt to avoid rolling the dice on longer sentences at trial.

Just listened to the podcast, Im surprised theres not a bigger thread on it.

Its hard to answer he poll since both can be correct and I think they are.

I think Adnan is guilty because seriously who else could it be? His buddy Jay knew where the car was and Jay had no motive and no other connection to Hae other than Adnan. There is just no other plausible explanation as to how she died, however this brings us the the wrongful conviction part of it. Jay's story is full of holes and the timeline the prosecution gave can be easily ripped apart including that Adnan might have an alibi for the time of murder that the prosecution gave.

Adnan probably did it or at least was a part in whatever happened to Hae but I dont think it could be proven beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law.
