Regardless, to return to an earlier theme, we are all a hair's breath away from being exposed for what we really are. I say that as someone who has experienced it personally, and thus I hope that others will listen and learn from my mistakes. It is like a thief that comes in the night that the real tests come. We will not be aware, but it will sneak upon us. That is how the tests come in the real war. Do not think that what happened to Bill Clinton cannot happen to us. We should not gloat. Rather we should humbly ask for mercy that we not fall victim to temptation and that the Almighty One deliver us from evil. If we are to proud too do that, there is no way. It is simply not possible. Perhaps some will hear. But I tell you truthfully, friend and foe alike, what I have said is for the benefit of all. Please, learn from my mistakes.
So true and thanks for the word of caution.

I don't think Gov. Huckabee is given to a lifestyle the song he helped perform depicts. I do however think, like almost all strong politician types I've observed tend to be keenly aware are troubled by the "problems" with those they see as political foes very often based in genuine concern. Yet the same exact people are blinded by similar and even identical problems when it originates with their political team. Beyoncé is an Obama supporter. Ted Nugent is an Obama critic. Because if this, the two are judged by two entirely different standards and I truly believe Gov. Huckabee was operating from a place of heart-felt honesty. He's genuinely concerned about the decline in values in the culture but he honestly didn't notice the moral problems with Nugent's lyrics and even played bass on the song when Nugent performed in concert on his tv show. Why? Political types see right and wrong though a political lens and it's not intentional much of the time. Even after it's brought to their attention, I believe any efforts to maintain their positions in light of a blatant double standard, which I've seen too many times to count, is about saving face by sticking to their original position and not an attempt to be deliberately unfair.. Btw: I voted for Huckabee in 2008.

Huckabee Smuckabee, he is still entitled to his opinions. He is right though, how many parents are paying attention to lyrics, some of them are quite interesting. Using Beyonce as an example is perhaps distracting from the point he is trying to make. Thoughts on that?

That is a very good observation. And I suppose it get's to the root of an issue that I was noting in another topic. It appears that it is easier to recognize and want to come down hard on faults when they appear in others, especially those we may not identify so strongly with. But when they appear in ourselves and those that we identify strongly with, as you say, we tend to use a different lens that filters out the things that we do not want to see because if we did not, we would be facing some realities about ourselves that would make us feel uncomfortable.

    LOL @ Huckabee Smuckabee!!!!

I think you are right. Anybody looking at the thing that has any kind of sense knows that it is politically motivated. As such, it takes away from the message because it is a fact that politicians will say anything that they can to destroy an opponent, not necessarily primarily because they have a genuine concern, but because primarily they want to score political points. And you are right, that does tend to water down the message, at least to the discerning eye. Of course, it can play well to those who are extremely biased.

Looking forward to more hilarious Huckabee comments in the 2016 primaries before his inevitable loss.
Social democrat is no longer an accurate description of my views.

Russell Brand flays Him and Billo in his Friday rant.
