Is it because of cartoons? Something printed in some media outlet somewhere?

Did a newspaper in Afghanistan print an "offensive" picture of jesus, so the western world just lost it and attacked them?
 
I don't think it's right to trash someones religion out of spite just as I would not want Jesus Christ to be maligned through art, media, or propaganda.

Do I think it would create new radical extremists...probably.

The idea seems silly and chiildish to me. I think of radical Islamists much like I do the members of criminal street gangs. They seek to establish and control territory using violence and intimidation. Does anyone think that a cartoon campaign would have a negative affect on street gang activity or would it simply make the gang members feel more special and powerful, thus more appealing to potential recruits?

Name me some street gangs who would think something as benign and harmless as this drawing would be justifiable grounds for an all-out assault on a building and the entire group of people in it.

You know, because of religious reasons.

My opinion of radical Islamists is similar, which suggests to me that at least 99% of the world's 1 billion Muslims doesn't agree with what the radicals are doing.

That being the case, how would it accomplish anything by antagonizing all those people with Mohammed artwork?

Think about it. If every single person/business/group/corporation with a facebook page, instagram, snap chat, blog, forum, and web page spent a week posting nothing but pictures of Muhammed would it make a statement?

If every single non-muslim with the means to "protest" in this way banded together and posted pictures, it would number in the billions.

Would it make any kind of difference? Would it resonate with the Muslim world at all?

A world-wide grass-roots movement to collectively say "we're not going to submit to terrorist threats" and "we fully support the freedom of speech and freedom of the press/media". Would you participate?

Is it time for every single non-Muslim to post a cartoon/drawing of Muhammed in a collective gesture of support, and defiance against violence?
