So yeah, there are aspects of prostitution that can be/remain illegal while the business of it can/should be legal.

Why is it legal for a man to take a woman to dinner, a movie, and then to a bar for some drinks before having sex, but it's illegal for him to just give her the money he'd have spent on the food, movie and drinks and get right to the sex?
This is why there are so many sugar daddies and gold diggers. They disregard commitment and just treat sex as a mere product in the market. Admittedly, sex is a basic human need, but as a civilized human being, one shall contain the sexual desire rather than unleash it randomly. The world will be in a horrendous mess if everyone is hormone-driven. Can you imagine that men no longer plan romantic dates but make a beeline to the brothels?

Cultures where P4P is socially acceptable still have high marriage and fertility rates. Society doesn't grind to a halt, as you seem to envision.
I don't have proof for any of this, but you have to wonder.

Are you sure you're not projecting? Not sure what any of those things have to do with not sleeping with prostitutes.

#1) Horrid assumption based on pure fiction - why on earth would you assume every woman would decide to become a prostitute? Why would you assume every man would decide to patronize them? Why would you assume the concept of commitment and love would simply go away?

#2) Guys can basically already do that if they chose, but most don't

#3) You think your idea of what's right and wrong should apply to everyone?

You need to look into societies where prostitution is legal and see if any of your conjecture is even remotely plausible.

You seem to have an awful lot of hangup that are causing you to insert things that I am not saying. Got any kind of study that show how much of the prostitution service industry has and doesn't have pimps? Does the brothel owner count as a pimp?

Oh, explain the EXTRA TAX an accountant - independent or working for H&R block pays - since that was your example. You can't, can you?
Nice try on twisting what I am trying to say. Fail. There are multiple types of taxes that are imposed across the board. A service or product can have a sales tax imposed upon it. Businesses pay income taxes above and beyond those of the income taxes of their employees. All that, plus other possible taxes and overhead goes into the final cost of the prostitutes service (assuming legal). Now if the prostitute is an independant contractor the business and personal income taxes are one and the same, unless they choose to incorporate (LLC or something similar). And as an independant contractor they would indeed keep all of their fee after expenses. But not all prostitutes would want to handle the finances by themselves. I certainally don't want to deal with all the maintenance, record keeping, accounting and whatnot that goes into being a Owner/Operator for Tractor Trailers. So I hire myself out to someone else who does all that. The majority of the fee that comes from the loads I haul go to the business owner and I get a wage from the owner. Now tell me, if a prostitute decides (not is forced) to hire themselves out to a business that is going to take care of the advertising, health care, accounting, etc so that all they have to do is concentrate on satisfying the customer, why should the prostitute be recieving a majority of the fee, when no other worker in any other field recieves the same?

You'd probably be surprised at the results. There are quite a number of people out there that will support the freedom of another person to go out to do things that they do not wish to do or even find repulsive. It's a little thing we call freedom.

And if you think that one streetwalker is doing it because that's what she always wanted to do, I don't know what to tell you. They're normally drug addicts or have some psychological problem. A lot of them commit suicide. What you're doing is taking advantage of a vulnerable person, giving them long term scars for your short term gratification.
Not all prostitutes are streetwalkers. You are concentrating on a specific sterotype. You seem to be ignoring the high end prostitutes, also known as Courtiasans or Geishas in some circles. There are those who indeed perform these types of services because they enjoy their job. Or at the least enjoy it more than some of the other jobs they've had. The type of people you are talking about are the reason why many are saying that certain regulations such as health (mental and physical) are needed as part of the industry.

Using other people that way is immoral and should not be allowed.[/QUOTE]

Of all the things you can do, giving someone an orgasm is hardly the worst thing in the world. In the army they give you a medal for spraying napalm on people! In civilian life you go to jail for giving someone an orgasm! Maybe I'm not supposed to understand it..."
Well Mr. Carlin, when you let people sell it, that creates a demand so massive it far outweighs the supply, and so to fill that supply, cartels kidnap women and bring them to market. This, Mr. Carlin, is called "human trafficking", you may want to Google it between acts.

Cartels don't move sex-slaves when there's no money in it, and that's why it's ok to give sex away for free.

The most legal prostitution should be, is to be like torrents where it's technically illegal but you really have to go out of your way and be a major pain to key players before you're ever prosecuted. Simply put, the DA should just not prosecute petty prostitution charges. There should never be a licensed prostitution industry. If people want to participate in an app where sex is advertised with a 'suggested tip' just like Lyft, but no payment is required, then Uncle Same should turn a blind eye.

In the interest of a value added benefit, legalizing prostitution would inevitably be followed by taxing prostitution.

You get screwed twice in every transaction!

    What a country!
I am not of the mind that a man is either of science or of religion. At his best and his worst, man exists in the misty glimmering where the falling angel meets the rising ape. That he chooses a direction from that point defines him as human.

Re: Do you support the legalization of prostitution?

Though I would vote "no", I think it should be a local issue at the county level. As a result, I would be accepting of legalized prostitution.
