Do you support the legalization of prostitution?

Do you support the legalization of prostitution?

I consider pimping unacceptable because in my mind pimping requires coercion of some sort.

So I tend to support legalized prostitution but am opposed to legalizing pimping.

So where would you put the owner or manager of a cat house/brothel? Is that pimping? or simply managing? Does advertising fall into pimping anywhere?

It is stunning how many people want government to go into the pimping business with fees/taxes/regulations and want the government to legitimate pimping. They are lost in naive views of reality believing their have enlightened views on sexuality, when it is no such thing and the exact opposite.

The problem that I have is the double speak by so many libertarians when it comes to this issue. On one hand, taxation is something they frown upon and they want the government to stay out of business and our personal lives. On the other, they support legalizing ... a... let's call it "trade" that would most certainly require the government to be incredibly involved in the personal lives of literally tens of thousands of women because of a number of reasons (health of clients, health of workers, taxation, regulations of establishment). Then there are the ones who say it would ensure women's safety. That's simply untrue for the tens of thousands of women who are forced into prostitution in crack houses, illegal massage parlors, private homes etc. What's even more interesting is that they believe that once it's legalized pimps, crackwhores, meth heads, and illegal brothels, from Alabama to Wyoming will be lining up to pay whatever taxes they owe.

I suppose it would be more accurate to say that I oppose coercion of anyone, including prostitutes, and am thus opposed to how stereotypical pimp is portrayed as acting.

I would not opposed any form of "prostitute management", if you will...so long as coercion is not involved.
