Pretty Straightforward question. Do you think he should have and you can discuss why you think he didn't below explaining your answer.

Given the security that would have had to have been in place, not attending was a good call. He should make it clear that he supports the movement, as I'm sure he must.

Had he gone, his opponents would have been ranting about the cost of his "vacation to Paris" no doubt. It would have taken a major effort.

I would agree, but I think the bigger domestic issue would have been the critiqued non-public appearance of senior administration officials at the D.C. march. I think that was an unfortunate oversight.

That being said, I often find such criticisms rather unimportant.

He'll do what he wants, but I don't feel that it serves any purpose except to try and regain some political points.

He should have his daughter change her avatar to Je Suis Charlie on whatever account it is that she is supposedly sending selfies to rappers on (I saw the headline but did not read the article on it).

Absolutely-he let down the US and the world by not showing up, in fact he didn't even send Holder (who was in Paris), Kerry, or Biden.

He just sent a powerful message to the American people, our allies, and our enemies.

Obama the Betrayer™ basically told ISIS to plant a flag in the White House by not attending, while giving Jews a wedgie.

And yet he was front and center to hit on chicks at the Nelson Mandela funeral. Maybe he went because Mandela was a communist?

Maybe it's because Obama is the Whore of Babylon.

His statement was sufficient.
President Barack Obama on Wednesday called the assault on the office of a French magazine in Paris a "cowardly and evil attack" that underscores terrorists' "fear" of free speech.

Speaking to reporters before a meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry, Obama said that the attack on satirical news magazine Charlie Hebdo "underscores that these terrorists fear freedom of speech and freedom of the press."

The magazine has published cartoons of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad.

In his remarks, Obama expressed his sympathies to the people of Paris and of France for the "terrible terrorist attack." And he promised that the United States will help bring the perpetrators of the assault to justice and will "roll of up the networks that help to advance these kinds of plots."

I think its because he's long on rhetoric but short on substantive action.

Substantive action like walking down a street?

It's visual political rhetoric.

Today, in light of the attacks its not rhetoric. It shows the west is united and resolute. This suggests Obama is not.

Oh now it's not rhetoric. That's very convenient.

I have very mixed feelings about all this. I dont necessarily think he needed to go (though the Secretary of State certainly should have been there), and part of me really want to send a great big gigantic **** YOU balloon to the world sometimes with regards to how they 'help' in the war against terrorists.

However..just as an observation and question...the leaders of many European countries took part in a public parade. How is it that they can, and our President (ANY president...not just this guy) would require more security than the Popemobile?

Not for nothin...but Obama is 'the' world leader that has been taking it to ISIS for the last 8 months. Thats a bit more than marching in a parade.

No. It would have been a security nightmare, and such things aren't really the place of politicians in my opinion.

If he'd gone, I'm sure people would be complaining about his "pandering" or "how much did his stunt in Paris cost the US taxpayer?"

Partisans would have found something to complain about either way.

No.
I don't like the guy, but there is a limit to the nits I'm gonna pick.

Its funny-Bush got an awful lot of flack for not landing after Katrina even though that was a security safety nightmare. Interesting how partisans still attacked him for that.

No doubt but I've criticized him for not doing enough to combat isis. We can't expect anything substantive until he's out of office.

Yup, sure is. And partisans don't speak for anyone but themselves. So what does that have to do with me?

I cared more about the cluster**** of a containment operation, personally. That is the place of politicians, and the Bush admin messed that up pretty badly. It's still messed up even now.

But I couldn't care less about their silly photo ops, and I'm happier when they don't take them, honestly. When they're standing around "being seen," that means they're not actually working.

You are in that place as well, kid. Its the company you keep. And for the record...I am Charlie.
