You actually remind me of another poster that used be here : Wake. He would start threads in a similar manner. Hm.
So you have talked to every single person in this thread about it? Does that mean that I can expect that I will not get an honest answer because EVERYONE wants to avoid a certain conclusion?

It is obvious that is it rationalized. The deeper question is is it sometimes justified.

That's just one step away from handling poisonous snakes, I think.

Omg- you are so wrong about the reasoning behind that. It's not because they are black. It's because it's a dangerous neighborhood. If the residents were white, I'd act exactly the same way. You see it as an issue of color. I see it as an issue of my personal safety.

There are differences in races but it is culture not color. Hopefully or at least ideally when people immigrate to America they will slowly assume the American culture even if it takes a generation or two. The one exception to this rule may be the Muslims who's very religion rejects our culture so assimilation with them may be difficult or impossible.

Would the same person avoid driving around rich black neighborhoods because they feared their chances of being shot are "tenfold"?

Whoa lizzie, or should I say "whoa nellie."

What I am saying is that IF you avoid going to a black neighborhood because it is black and you therefore think that it is more likely that you would be victimized by crime, that is discrimination based on race. It is not illegal. Is not such discrimination SOMETIMES justified?

Let's suppose that the person has never been to the city before and knows nothing about it, except that certain neighborhoods are black. If he avoids going to those neighborhoods because they are black and he therefore thinks that it is more likely that he will victimized by crime, that is discrimination based on race and it is not illegal.

Since there are differences, don't you think that racial discrimination is sometimes justified?
