You missed his point.

Our illegal and unprovoked invasion of Iraq created a power vacuum that allowed ISIL and Al Qaeda to infiltrate and flourish.

So...yeah, about 100K innocent men, women, and children died due to our invasion, to the insurrection and our response to it, and to the ongoing violence since the government is still so weak.

We're not doing it out of the blue, we're doing it as the only solution to terrorism. These people cannot be reasoned with, they cannot be convinced that they're wrong, they aren't afraid of dying, their purpose is to convert the world by force to their religion and nothing less is acceptable to them. If we stop bothering them, they won't stop. The only thing that will stop them is the death of every single extremist Muslim on the planet. Before doing that, I'd rather try something a little less drastic. Nothing less drastic than killing their families has been shown to work.

It's been going on a lot longer than 2002. What happened might have made it worse, it didn't cause the problem. Certainly it didn't cause those Muslim animals to fly airplanes into buildings prior to that invasion of Iraq.

You're quite wrong. If you were somehow able to suddenly kill every extremist Muslim on the planet, the very act of doing so would radicalize ten times that number overnight.

Ask yourself how many terrorists come from the rich Arab states where there's a high standard of living? Like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and such? And what about the largest Muslim nation on the planet - Indonesia? Yes, they have some problems too, but not so much in relative terms.

There are some terrorist who come from the countries mentioned above, but relatively few. Most of their foot soldiers come from the poor, the disaffected, the downtrodden. And if you'll think about it, that's how we get a lot of people in our own armed forces - the poor, downtrodden, and disaffected. Don't tell me this isn't the case - been there, done that, got the retired AFID in my wallet.

You will never, ever, EVER get rid of terrorism. Ever. But if you want to minimize it, help bring their nations up to first-world status...and all of a sudden the hordes of radicals becomes a trickle. That's how it's done...and short of worldwide genocide, the ONLY way it can be done.

Depends on whom you ask. For instance, who was it that deposed the democratically-elected president of Iraq and installed the Shah in his place?

It was because they were about to nationalize the oil production, and our oil companies didn't like that.

Tell me, if you lived in a nation whose democratically-elected president was overthrown by another nation which put a despot in the seat of power instead, what would you think about that other nation?
