English is regarded as the universal language of business.
Source?

Other than that not sure why it's important to the topic.
You're the one complaining about other languages being spoken. I addressed your comment.

Re: How many racists do you know- friends with –associate with – interact with? And w

Some people say it's mostly older people who are racist, but I have seen 20 somethings who are racist/prejudice. My friend is about 28, and when I knew him, he refused to eat at establishments that were mostly African American. I never understood why. Did he think the establishment would be less clean? Did he think that they didn't know how to cook food or wash dishes properly?

For Bar b que and southeren food, I tend to seek out black owned restaraunts, or at least, restaraunts with black cooks. Sometimes, I am not only the sole white in the restaraunt, but also in the immediate neighborhood. One such place in Alabama even sported a veritable shrine to Obama. I still hope to go back- for the food, not for the shrine.

I have never really been in the deep south. A lot of times on Sunday, I go to a breakfast place. Sometimes I am the only white person in there too, but I don't mind. I like seeing the people come in after church, especially the grandparents and the children. The kids look so cute and the grandparents look so happy playing with them. :)

Do the women still wear the elaborate "church hats" at the restaraunt? I bet some of the grandmothers may even have their choir robes on.

Though my church worship format (conservative Catholic) is the polar opposite of black churches, I have always like the "Americana" found in black churches. One of these days, I am going to go to one of their services, just to experience it.

Re: How many racists do you know- friends with –associate with – interact with? And w

I have never noticed robes or hats. Maybe they do wear hats, but they don't stand out to me. I live in the north, so the church services might be different/less elaborate...

A blog is not a particularly valid source.

Ready or not, English is now the global language of business. More and more multinational companies are mandating English as the common corporate language—Airbus, Daimler-Chrysler, Fast Retailing, Nokia, Renault, Samsung, SAP, Technicolor, and Microsoft in Beijing, to name a few—in an attempt to facilitate communication and performance across geographically diverse functions and business endeavors.

All pilots speak English.

English is the official language of air travel, thanks to the United Nations’ International Civil Aviation Organization. As of 2008, pilots and air traffic controllers are required to speak English, no matter what part of the world they are in. Since hundreds of lives have been lost in crashes attributed to communication problems between pilots and air traffic controllers or pilots and other pilots, it was determined that they all speak one standard language.

We can look to our children to change that.

That is a tradition of long standing.

True but look back on how homosexuals were treated for centuries. Now how much has it changed.
The western world is Multi cultural. Change is happening.
Of course not all will change but the majority will be more tolerant of others.

Re: How many racists do you know- friends with –associate with – interact with? And w

Black people call themselves Nxxxxx. Are they racists?

If so, we need to seek different characteristics for a racist.

Why do you think they started referring to themselves as Nxxxxx?

On the other hand gays did okay in antiquity. And a great, great uncle of mine lived with his boy friend in New York quite openly at the beginning of the last century.

Before Christianity and Islam homosexuality in many countries was accepted and practiced.

How many racists do you know- friends with –associate with – interact with? And who is to blame?

This is a loaded question.

Since I'm old right now and spent much of my life in management, I have had to train myself to be hyper aware of race in the workplace and deliberately unaware of race in my personal interactions.

This is an odd combination of activities to incorporate side by side on a daily basis. Is being hyper aware and deliberately unaware on a self enforced basis in ALL actions in the work place Racist? It seems as if it is.

If Race becomes the guiding the beacon for all activities, I would argue that those activities, then, all become racist.

On a personal level, I don't give a rat's patutie what race the people I deal with happen to be as long as they are courteous and amiable.

I would much rather be the only white guy in group of friendly folks who are not lily white as be one of many white guys in a group of white A-Holes.

That's just me.

All of that said, racists that I run into, both White and Black, seem to be pissed off at the world and racism is only one more excuse to display and exercise their hate. It is always my pleasure to leave them seeking less hateful companions.

Neither of those sources state that "English is the universal language of business."

There is no source that states that English is the universal language for business, and in fact there are billions of transactions occurring daily that are performed in non-English languages -- all perfectly legal.

Neither of those, sorry but if your a pilot you have to speak English. Period. Or you don't fly internationally.

And the business post I presented is a world standard.

Now you can argue all you want but the truth is like flying a plane internationally you have to speak English and the business world is becoming the same.

Have a good day.

I didn't see where WCH specified he was engaging in air travel when complaining about the language others were speaking in front of him.

This is my country...learn English.

Aren't you a little bit curious what they are saying?

Re: How many racists do you know- friends with –associate with – interact with? And w

I think everyone is a sort of racist in one way or another and we arent the only ones, people from other countries are somewhat racist too.

I used to think that there is less of it nowadays but then I see all the anti-Muslim threads here and it seems it just shifted to another.

I think you need to look up the definition of racism.

Re: How many racists do you know- friends with –associate with – interact with? And w

In answer to the OP, I don't know any racist anymore. I now live in Mexico and there are no blacks living where I am.
