I know 2 - no changing them. Yes I have challenged both on it. Yet they are quite public in their racist behaviors.

3, my interaction with them is minimal, and I doubt any of the 3 will completely undo their position on the matter. If anything is to blame for all 3 of them I would say their parents, their location of upbringing, and growing up in a time period where that level of racism was all to common. While I think 1 of the 3 has somewhat become more mild, it is still there. All 3 are 60+ years old, born and raised in the south, and 2 are white / 1 is black.

Two and the only reason I talk to them is if I run into them somewhere.

Where I live is the tradional home of the klan in my state. People here are sometimes breathtakingly racist, and I ma used to it because I was raised here by them. No, they were racist long before Obama or the UN or whatever, except ignorance.

I'm a firm believer that everyone is a little bit racist.

Correct- It is part of us. How we handle that bias, racism, perhaps fear it the difference.
When I first joined the Military it was present, 1976. Over the next 15 years plus it changed for the better.
I ran into it frequently, from all colors of peoples in my present employment. And they were as they say shot down.
Being in my 13th year now at the same place, it occurs, rare but often enough, and I still slam them down.

I did find some racism in the Army. However, I found a lot more living in Baltimore. The black people hated the white people, and the other way around. No reason at all.

Mine are neighbors- on the other side of my fence hard not to interact. Sottish, in their early 70's. No changing them.
Other than that they are decent people.

I know a lot of racists, white and black. I can't possibly provide a breakdown of who I know, who I'm friends with, who I associate with.

If so, we need to seek different characteristics for a racist.

Funny. In my employment I meet a ton of truck drivers from Canada mostly but a good number from the US.
So i meet people that came to the US/Canada- or their parents did from all over the world.
New Canadians, I understand that English is a difficult language to learn. I also understand that many of these people speak other languages aside from the land of their birth/taught by their parents and English.
Myself, i have a problem with English, poor grammar and all.

That would be English or Spanish?
I got used to when I was in Germany. I lived on the economy as the Army called it. Everyone in my 1st place was German. First thing they did was buy a dictionary - then i bough a large one as well.
After a few years I could understand the language enough to know what was being chatted about.

If you learn their language it won't be foreign to you.
