The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for mor

The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for more serious offenses have dropped by 2/3rds.

NYPD traffic tickets and summonses for minor offenses have dropped off by a staggering 94 percent following the execution of two cops — as officers feel betrayed by the mayor and fear for their safety, The Post has learned.

Arrests plummet 66% with NYPD in virtual work stoppage

The numbers in their next paycheck should drop by 66%.

From the Atlantic article you provide:

Credit savvy police union misdirection. They're turning conservatives into their useful idiots.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Given that the NYPD has adopted 'wartime policing' in which they are dispatching double the man power for every call out, is this really any sort of surprise?

    A work stoppage?
Has the NYPD declared a strike? Don't think so.
Have there been reports of large numbers calling in sick? The blue flu? Don't think so.

Is it really a work stoppage? Doesn't seem to be to me. Why does it seem to be to you?

Because police officers have said that's what they are doing - and because it is obvious by the statistics.

No, I don't support the NYPD in this matter. They are saying that if we don't let them kill people, they will kill NYC's cash cow, parking and traffic tickets. I think the Mayor should claim it has caused a cash shortfall and lay off about 25% of the NYPD due to lack of funds. You have to fight fire with fire.

It will be interesting to see how this breaks along partisan lines.

Conservatives are split. Some support-the-blue no matter what, including police unions no-matter-what. Others oppose a government employee union having it's members both drawing pay while also refusing to do their job for a political agenda.

Liberals also will likely split. Work stoppage as a retaliation against protesters and to break a liberal mayor would seem unacceptable, but the work stoppage is pro-union.

The mayor should just fire them and then stand on the governor to activate the National Guard, which the Cuomo would pretty much have to concede on if NYC had no police force.

Then send the National Guard to all of the cops's homes to sweep them for illegal weapons and magazines.

Will never happen, of course, but God I would love to watch it.

Re: The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for

I suspect that at first New Yorkers will mostly support the police, but if it continues public sentiment will turn against them quickly.

What does the NYPD want? An apology from the mayor? A promise no NYPD officer will ever be brought before a grand jury? Authorizing clubbing down protesters? That every NYCer sign a pledge of loyalty to the police? They all want III full military body armor with full auto M16s? An armored car for all officers?

What - exactly - are the demands?

Given that the mayor and other race baiting douchebags have done their best to vilify cops and in light of the recent videos we've seen posted of minor police/citizen interactions involving citizens screaming I CANT BREATHE and HANDS UP!...I HAVE MY HANDS UP!!!, I'd say if the cops are taking a step back in their policing that is probably a really good decision.

Now that, I've not heard. If they declare it, then yeah, it's a work stoppage, and if it can be considered as a strike, then I believe it would be an illegal strike, as I recall that PD and FD can't strike, due to their public safety function.
