NYPD traffic tickets and summonses for minor offenses have dropped off by a staggering 94 percent following the execution of two cops — as officers feel betrayed by the mayor and fear for their safety, The Post has learned.
So basically, the cops have stopped wasting everyone's time with petty bull****.

documented orders from NYPD officials to search and arrest black people in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood.
The result of this “performance culture”: needless summonses for minor violations (putting one’s feet on subway seats, playing chess in a park, failing to wear seat belts) and other quota-driven activity. This does not make for efficient policing.

Most New Yorkers live in the burbs, or the outer boroughs... Manhattan is full of people not from the NYC talking about how new york they are.

Speaking of what conservatives want, this conservatives wants every one of the protesters identified and ALL policing in their areas to cease immediately. Call 911, no response from police. Btw, not serious for reality reasons, but it feels good to think about the assholes getting precisely what they want.

Look, the traffic stops and regulations the police have to enforce are the stuff of the city's politicians. The cops didn't make up these ordinances. Heck, it's even the politicians who tell them when to heavily enforce them and in what areas.

But really, traffic stops yield two things, income for the city and you find more warranted felons you've been looking for that way.

Oh I would be quite serious and agree completely. Anyone that protests 'the cops' should be on their own. That includes the mayor and Al Sharpton with his bogus death threat claims.

You're right, it's a disctrict law. However, the majority of districts and states have followed suit. Most major cities have this. It's nicknamed 'the buddy system' in the LEO community.

Remember, no officer has any idea at the initiation of an apprehension of the emotional state of the offender or other crimes the offender may have recently committed. In heightened tensions such as we see in NY just now, why risk such an event without sufficient force to counter a possible reaction? In addition, a violent reaction may not be realized until days or weeks later on another completely unsuspecting officer - just as we've recently seen.
Well regardless of the reasoning, at least it's working.

Well, still in the realm of fantasy, what would be ideal is two squad cars rather than one with attorneys and union reps and "concerned citizen" groups all riding along and supervising every stop to make certain that everybody is "correctly" represented. This does fly in the face of the reality of having to make split-second decisions, but hey, perhaps we can even engage those who are stopped in politely signing agreements and waivers and in consulting with the various reps on board every car on every call.

Send the bill for all this to Al Sharpton.

Would I be able to get my tax money back? I'd consider it. And I'm not a protestor.

Hell no. It's just like paying for public schools when your kids all go to private school.
