For the ones on work stoppage, the abusers, the criminals, the thieves, and the liars, sure.

They need to be held to a higher standard than regular folks.

    That is common sense.

The mayor should respond by breaking the law?

Spare me your comments - you have no idea what I think.

Your logic here is quite childish.
They're covering their own asses. Why risk getting into a physical confrontation with a subject, over a misdemeanor?

The mayor and other race baiting assholes havent made that distinction. Neither have a lot of the morons that are continuously piling on 'the cops'. That kind of stupidity has made all cops targets, so you know what? **** the mayor, the race baiting assholes, and all the rest of them.

Job isnt the same if you dont have the same authority. They shouldnt get hung out to dry for 'doing that job' just because it's not popular at the moment and inconvenient for their bosses.

    Yes.

Understand that I'm not a NY state Senator seriously proposing that it be done.

I'm just a guy at a keyboard thinking that that kind of "turnabout" would be pretty ****ing neat to watch.

I know it won't happen, I understand and am glad that we have laws that would prevent it from happening, but I nevertheless think it would be awesome.

    Frankly, yes.

Break the law, then let the NYPD PBA sue him.

Sort of like St. Ronald and PATCO.

Personally, I don't believe that unionization has any place in the public sector, for the same reason that the military isn't allowed to unionize.

Breaking public sector unions is going to be ugly, and it'll require some "shoot first, ask questions later" tactics, but in the end I think it's necessary and will be worth it.

I think it'll have to happen eventually, and I think this is a great opportunity for NYC to show some leadership.

Plus I think it would be poetic justice to see a lib take the lead.

You're right. He should respond by breaking the law. Hell, he might even end up in prison over it.

I say no.Yes the mayor of New York is a piece of **** who metaphorically sucked and licked the testicles of race antagonizers and cop haters by insinuating or implying that the cops are racist trigger happy thugs who assault and kill black people. Anyone who claims he didn't is a ****en retard or didn't hear his speech regarding his bi-racial son.Their issue with the mayor has nothing to do with the millions of other New Yorkers. Turn their backs on him when the mayor speaks, refuse to do any guard detail for the mayor or do some other action that effects only the mayor. But do not take this out on the millions of New Yorkers.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

    Cicero Marcus Tullius
